  • After a cracking couple of parties at our two respective haunts, we're back at E1's Rhythm Factory with a line-up that represents the very best in live, dub-infused techno, electro and IDM. Yes, it's Bleep43 on the Friday (and what a line-up they've got), but for those of you with the requisite love/stamina, or who simply want a messy old weekend, this promises to be a very special affair indeed. Headlining are the mighty Pendle Coven, playing LDN-town for the first time in their 7 year career. One part Miles Whittaker, one part Gary Howell, they've been an omnipresent (if spectral) force in British electronica, melding a bewildering array of influences in what's been a consistently uncompromising stream of releases - culminating in last year's all-consuming Self Assessment LP. Fresh off the back of some deadly remix hit jobs for Time To Express, Mowar and, most recently, Prologue and armed to the teeth with a battery of primetime hardware, it's a given that this will be a devastating show, and what's more, Miles - better known to deepside ravers as DJ MLZ - will be bringing a crateful of black wax for added turntable frolics. Gwarn! Second up is Leeuwarden's Boris Bunnik aka Conforce, another London debutant who, if his recent, soul-drenched LP and prior, pitch-perfect EPs are anything to go by, is about the hottest thing in Dutch-built, Detroit-minded techno right now. With releases on undercover big-guns Rush Hour, Curle and the ever-excellent Meanwhile, his music betrays a deep understanding of, and affection for, the roots of house and techno, melding the understated minimalism of Chain Reaction to the raw dynamism of the big D, with a fair old wodge of Mancunian bass to boot. If you're even half-interested in the evolution of true-school 4/4 club music, don't miss this. Finally, we're beside ourselves to be bringing in Glasgow's Ruaridh Law aka TVO for what - barring a last minute switch-up at Plex earlier this year - will be his first (proper) London live show in yonks. With a catalogue of beautifully rendered, melodically affecting post-techno 12s, EPs and albums to his name - check his recent, free-to-download Outside The Circle Looking In LP for a start - he's marked himself out as amongst the Isle's most forward thinking producers, really stepping on the gas of late with a string of excellent poddies and remixes and heap of forthcoming goodness about to drop. Again, if you're even half-bothered about the direction of purist, club-driven electronics, this isn't to be missed. Trust us. D-floor support comes from COLONY troopers MB and CB, dropping their usual selection of dark, uncompromising sounds, whilst VJs Darkin and Foy will be taking you on a trip into some very strange places via laptop and projector. Tickets are (still) cheap as chips, drinks even cheaper, and the club's beefy 11k rig functioning to its usual chest-caving standards. In other words: it's a no brainer. www.myspace.com/pendlecoven www.modern-love.co.uk www.myspace.com/conforce www.myspace.com/meanwhilesounds www.ruaridh.marciablaine.com www.highpointlowlife.com www.myspace.com/vjdarkin + + + Further info/mailing list: [email protected]
