Clown & Sunset presents Don't Break My Love with Nicolas Jaar

  • Clown & Sunset Presents Don't Break My Love Tour with... Nicolas Jarr (Live) Acid Pauli Soul Keita + Dinky Room 2: Flux & Butterside Up Annie Errez & Bobby O'Donnell Brinsley Kazak & Josh T Hamish Cole Jonny Sleight Aartekt A new year and a new venue; it gives us great pleasure to announce that the long awaited unveiling of Leeds' newest events space is finally upon us. The Mint Warehouse will open its doors to the people of Leeds and beyond this January, welcoming Nicolas Jaar and his Clown and Sunset label artists Soul Keita and Acid Pauli, plus a performance from city favourite Onur Özer. The new space, brought to you by the people behind the Mint Club, has been very eagerly anticipated. The Mint Club, voted 'Best Small Club' in the U.K. by DJ Mag needs little introduction. From its precise Funktion-One sound to its LED ceiling to its unbelievable atmosphere; the place has provided Leeds with some great times and even greater parties over the last three years. It should come as no surprise then, that the new Mint Warehouse is going to be revolutionary. The venue is decked out with a custom Funktion-One sound system in each room, boasts a large warehouse room, a more intimate upstairs second room, as well as a large open air terrace, and is located just outside the city centre. Leeds has been calling for somewhere like this, and now it's got it. Recently voted the best Live Act on the planet by RA, and no. 4 in Mojo's electronica albums of the year, Nicolas Jaar has turned into a global phenomenon since his dazzling Leeds debut last year. Born in NYC, but raised in Santiago de Chile, Nico started to make organic electronic music in 2004. He came back to New York for his teenage years, and his first release soon followed in 2007; “The Student EP” on local label Wolf + Lamb. The worldwide scene took immediate notice of the young man's precocious skills, and years on he has gigged at some of the coolest venues in the world; from Club Der Visionaire to Mutek, from The Marcy Hotel to Fabric. Huge hits like 'Time For Us' on Wolf + Lamb, or his 'Space Is Only Noise' album on Circus Company have drawn him praise from all angles - not to mention his tour last year with a full live band, witnessed by us with gaping jaws at Sonar and Glastonbury 2011. Nico comes to us tonight on a global tour for his latest release, the gracefully intricate and microfunky 'Don't Break My Love' on Clown and Sunset, his own forward thinking label saved for his most intimate work. Since completing his last release in February 2011, Nico has devoted himself entirely to developing Clown & Sunset and tonight support comes from label pals Acid Pauli and Soul Keita. Acid Pauli, the former Bar 25 resident's vibe is reduced melody ridden techno, interspersed with dark, down tempo beats, with an almost carnival aesthetic. Soul Keita, one of Clown & Sunset’s founding artists, comes to Leeds for the first time to premier his new live set. The twenty-year-old Ethiopian musician and painter recently relocated to Paris from his hometown, Addis Ababa, where he is composing new music and developing visual art. Perfect support to Nico, and a perfect way to showcase the sounds and vibe of the label. And last but by no means least is Alejandra Iglesias AKA Dinky. Brought in to close the main room down in style, Dinky's sound will round the night off perfectly with her infectious, highly groovy house and techno. The South American's rise to the top has taken her from her native Chile to a brief stint living in New York before moving to her new home Berlin, where she can often be heard playing at the notorious Panorama Bar where she holds a residency. WIth releases on Cocoon, Visionquest, Ostgut Ton and Crosstown over the years Dinky's house music pedigree is unquestioned; the main room really is in for a treat! Mint Warehouse Presents The 'Don't Break My Love' Tour with Nicolas Jaar, Acid Pauli and Soul Keita, with support from Dinky. Don't delay in buying tickets for this one.
