  • We're in Brixton again, with five special guests joining us for another Red Bull Music Academy showdown. Detroit-influenced deep house with soul is how German Duo Âme best describe themselves, taking in influences from Stevie Wonder to Transmat to Herbie Hancock. Releasing since 2003 on Sonar Kollectiv and of course Innervisions, Kristian Beyer & Frank Wiedemann AKA Âme were the only act to make it into both RA's 2012 polls; for Live Acts and DJs.Tonight we welcome Kristian over, who handles the duo's DJ shows. An impeccable DJ who consistently never fails to deliver and surprise with his selections, we can't wait to welcome him over. To book someone associated with the late and supremely great J Dilla is an absolute privilege. So it's with real pleasure that we introduce Mr Dez Andres, Jay Dee's mate, DJ from 90's outfit Slum Village, and producer of some of contemporary house's most essential tracks. His music nowadays crosses over from house to disco to hip hop, released on labels such as Moody's Mahogani and his own imprint La Vida. If you're not familiar with 'New For U', 'Seasons So Long' or 'Second Time Around' from last year, then you've probably been living under the sea! His Djing is eclectic, fun and aimed straight at the party; expect him to cross genres, do a bit of scratching and even get on the mic. Our next Guest's bio reads 'Contemporary music that includes bleeping house or quirky techno meets futuristic Italo-disco and electronica devoid of all provenance' and we couldn't sum up Roman Flugel's music any better if we tried. The German has been in the game a remarkably long time, making his fabulously unique, cheeky electronic music for Dial, Live at Robert Johnson and even Cocoon, as well of course for his own labels, Playhouse, Ongaku and Klang Elektronik. He's remixed the likes of Pet Shop Boys, Primal Scream and even Kylie, and was half of pop/electro outfit Alter Ego, there really is not much Roman hasn't achieved. Young Belgian producer and Red Bull Music Academy graduate Nicolas Geysens AKA San Soda is next up. Alongside Red D, he's part of the production duo FCL, who are responsible for some of the biggest bombs of the last few years, released on We Play House. 'Let's Go' was a slam dunk in 2010, and more recently 'It's You'; of which San's classy Panoramabar Remix tore up dance floors in 2012. And last but not least Amir Alexander, a new school Chicago producer who's raw and gritty modern spin on classic North American underground sounds has been received to great acclaim. Since his superb release ‘The Gutter Flex EP’ on Argot in early 2012, he has since been snapped up for releases on Deep Vibes and Hypercolour offshoot Hype_Ltd. Djing for 20 plus years back home, we expect Amir to seriously bring the heat tonight.
