Erratic presents: Blank Code Label Showcase

  • Erratic presents: Detroit's Blank Code Label Showcase Sullivan Room (218 Sullivan St, NY) $10 limited early birds tickets on RA $15 before midnight, $25 after w/ RSVP ( ErraticNYC.com ) 2-for-1 drink specials (10-11pm) After our last killer event in June, Erratic goes for the third, takeover round of Sullivan Room on Saturday, August 10th, bringing you an unparalleled and exclusive, high-profile event: Blank Code's first New York label showcase, promoting their latest record releases, "Bodies In Pawn" and "Strumpet." Commemorating this will be Luis Flores from Mexico (responsible for a stomper of a take in "Bodies In Pawn" released in June), Droid Recordings main-man Drumcell from LA (whose collaboration with Material Object, "Strumpet," is due in August), and of course Blank Code's stalwarts and masterminds, Project 313. If you were at DEMF this past May you know this line-up means straight-up business, where Blank Code was the driving force behind most of the afterparties held at the infamous The Works in Detroit, the label's hometown. Needless to say, you are in for a real treat and we couldn't be any more excited for this. Project 313 is the collaboration of Detroit natives Nick and Chad, under which they've been producing and releasing proper Techno. They are no strangers to the Detroit scene, as they have been involved in a myriad of different event promotion projects dating back to the 90s.They started the Blank Code platform back in 2007, focusing mostly on event promotion, first with Movement’s "Substance" afterparties and more recently the established "Scene" events. The Blank Code label on the other hand, came to life last summer and has since released 5 EPs featuring talent such as Bas Mooy, Luis Flores, Drumcell, Audio Injection, Mutate and Material Object among others. "Bodies In Pawn," the fifth and latest release, is their biggest project yet and includes takes by Luis Flores, Audio Injection, Mutate, Joel Morgan and Project 313, having received quite the accolades from the best in the industry already. The latter's contribution to the project, in their own words, "is a stomping, stripped-down beat surrounded by drifting noise, perfectly matching the hard-and-steady style of their live sets in Detroit." Drumcell (aka Moe Espinosa), really needs no introduction at this point: he is the head of Droid Recordings based out of Los Angeles; he is the co-founder of the infamous Droid Behavior and Interface parties along with the Raiz brothers, which together they have been running since 2003; he is always pushing the envelope in regards to the technical aspect of sound creation and hardware setup; and his already much-talked-about, 12-track debut album, "Sleep Complex," will be released on CLR August 30th, where he is now one of the core artists of the label. Last but not least, "Strumpet," Drumcell's recent collaboration with German artist Material Object, is also due in August on Blank Code, which is the label's upcoming release after "Bodies In Pawn." Luis Flores, hailing from Guadalajara, Mexico, is currently one of the top names in the industry and very busy talent as of late. With constant releases on Droid, Brood, Blank Code, Silent Steps, and Micro.fon we had the pleasure of hosting him last year alongside Pfirter and his live performance was unique, intense and spectacular. Those who saw him perform in NY as well as at the Interface parties in Detroit last couple of years, are well aware of the darkness and outstanding live performance he is capable of unleashing. The following summarizes Luis Flores' take in the EP, whose sound "exemplifies a masterful techno workout driven by thick layers of shakers and hi-hats, paired with energetic glitched percussive hits." As usual, the Erratic residents, Dos Lokos, will be opening things up. And as you can guess, with such a big lineup getting there early is strongly recommended.
