Leitmotif003 with Ben UFO b2b Morphosis; Opal Tapes

  • The third instalment of BleeD's Leitmotif club series is presented in association with Black Atlantic, and features a very special 8 hour back to back session from two of the most revered DJs on the planet They’ll be taking over Room 1 from start to finish, covering more bases than your average festival line-up. BEN UFO needs very little introduction. Quite simply, he’s one of the bravest, most diverse and informed of all UK DJs. Famed for his Hessle Audio residency at fabric, his appearance for BleeD gives him the chance to really loosen up, and test his limits alongside one of our favourite selectors, MORPHOSIS. Rabih Beaini, as he’s known to his mother, curates one of the most on-point underground labels around, Morphine, dealing with the outer-fringes of the electronic landscape. They helped to introduce the likes of Container, Metasplice, Hieroglyphic Being, Madteo and Charles Cohen to an appreciative international audience of true aficionados. This will be the first time the pair have played together, and it will be an exhilirating document of the current state of discerning electronic music. Room 2 is an Opal Tapes hosted dance party, with DJ sets from HUERCO S, BLEACHING AGENT, label-head BASIC HOUSE and BleeD/Leitmotif resident Volte-Face. US based Huerco S is characterised by a uniquely scuffed-up take on what could loosely be described as house music. As well as releasing on Opal Tapes and Future Times, he also released one of the best albums of 2013, ‘Colonial Patterns’, on Oneohtrix Point Never’s Software imprint. Bleaching Agent is one of the unsung heroes of the Opal Tapes roster. It seems to be a little known fact that he also forms one half of the amazing Blacknecks (alongside Truss), as well as performing as a member of Forward Strategy Group, best known for releasing on Perc Trax. As a solo artist, he’s been putting out some of the gnarliest and most original techno around, with releases/remixes on the likes of Mira, Komisch and Resin. Basic House is the man behind Opal Tapes, and one of the most prolific curators and producers operating in the UK noise/dance axis. In the space of just two years, the label has put out some incredible records from, for the most part, previously unknown names, such as IVVVO, Lumigraph, Patricia, Austin Cesear, Karen Gwyer, Shapednoise, Yves De Mey, Wanda Group, 1991 and Tuff Sherm to name but a few. Generally associated with his blistering and challenging live sets, he’ll be sticking to DJ service on this occasion, bringing an astute knowledge of the qualities required to rock the most open-minded of dancefloors. Volte-Face curates BleeD, and is resident DJ at all events. Having booked and played alongside the likes of Silent Servant, Vatican Shadow, Regis, Veronica Vasicka and Powell this year, he’s starting achieve wider recognition with bookings for fabric, Resident Advisor, Plastic People, Recyclart in Brussels, Unsound in Krakow, Field Day and Beacons Festival.
