  • GAUDI: Expect a heavy line-up of gear on the Cielo stage for Gaudi's NYC debut. For the past three decades, the innovative producer and solo artist has been shattering genre barriers, pioneering the electronic and dance music worlds, and amassing a stunning collection of originals, remixes, collaborations, and soundtracks spanning the worlds of reggae, dub, breaks, globalbeat, and cutting-edge psychedelic bass music. The Italian-born UK-based artist has seen the release of 13 solo albums, over a hundred compilations, 250 productions and a number of movie soundtracks. A consummate musician and performer, he plays live theremin, MiniMoog, vocoder, tape echoes, electronic percussion, multi-effects, Stylophone and dub sirens, and mixes live dub vocals thru his analogue equipment to maximum effect in his live shows. Beyond the music, a burning passion reveals itself in a scathing rebuttal of tyranny and oppression through sonic resistance. In 2013, GAUDI released ”In between times” (Six Degrees Records), that seamlessly blends heavy bass lines, stunning electronic soundscapes and powerful political messages, and firmly rooted in dub reggae which is the core of everything GAUDI does . Guests on the album include reggae legends Lee Scratch Perry, Michael Rose and Twilight Circus; electronic pioneers The Orb, Raja Ram from Shpongle; and beatboxer extraordinaire Danny Ladwa, who performs alongside GAUDI, spreading the words of peace, love, and tolerance. The pair have traveled the world, headlining and performing at some of the best festivals on the planet, from Shambhala in Canada; to the Boom Festival in Portugal; Glastonbury, Glade, Waveform in the UK; Ozora and S.U.N. in Hungary; Symbiosis, Sonic Bloom, Lightning in a Bottle, Photosynthesis and Burning Man on the West Coast; Wakarusa in the South; The Big Up and Gratifly on the East Coast; Indigo in Israel; Rainbow Serpent, Earthcore and Peatsridge in Australia; Universo Paralello and Skol Beat in Brazil; Envision in Costa Rica; Sonica in Italy, and far, far beyond. In 2014, GAUDI and Danny Ladwa look to take the sonic mission even wider, putting social injustice and corporate malfeasance under a microscope, uniting brothers and sisters across borders, across class lines, and around the world. Since the party’s launch in 2003, Deep Space has featured a who’s who of well known and then emerging artists from around the world representing a stunning array of musical styles that Deep Space is known for integrating into its open minded aesthetic. While the mission of Deep Space remains committed to sharing a love of dub, a vast, under-appreciated musical direction, the party has invited a great range of guest artists to share their creative dub mixing approaches to all things spacey, psychedelic and mind-bending. From dubstep pioneers such as Mala, Goth-Trad, and Digital Mystikz, to house, techno & disco icons such as Giorgio Moroder, Dimitri from Paris, Theo Parrish, Rhythm & Sound, Ron Trent, Carl Craig, Joe Claussell, Derrick May, to cutting edge producers and tastemakers such as Gilles Peterson, Mary Anne Hobbs, Mr. Scruff, DJ Spooky and dub legends such as Adrian Sherwood with Pinch, Mutabaruka and U-Roy, and Brazilian icons Otto with Carlinhos Brown and plenty of live musical and dance performers, Deep Space continues to be a magnet for attracting many of electronic dance music’s most innovative artists. Almost all of the guest artists who play at Deep Space create truly one-of-kind, crate-digging "Deep Space sets." Deep Space has been presented abroad at the Big Chill Festival (UK), Plastic People (UK), TDK Cross Central Festival (UK), Space Lab Yellow (Japan), Café Jamaica (Japan), Precious Hall (Japan), Phase (Japan), throughout France, in Berlin, Denmark, SONAR Festival in Barcelona and across the U.S. In 2010 Deep Space received a dedicated night at Burning Man’s Disorient camp.
