Individual Collective x Dsnt Feat. Kangding Ray, AnD, Ancient Methods, Pariah, Lakker +More

  • Celebrating a year of throwing Techno parties, Individual Collective hits Corsica Studios in February in typically brazen musical fashion, enlisting the help of fellow Techno provocateurs DSNT to bring their own heat to the party. There was no other way to celebrate what has been a great year for us here at Individual Collective. Starting as we always meant to go on in February 2014(with Ancient Methods, DJ Skirt and Manni Dee) in a small space in Hackney, and subsequently graduating promptly(four parties deep) to the now hallowed turf of Corsica Studios. The only thing we knew we had to do was bring you an essence of what we’ve done up until this point… And more! We’ve enlisted the help of DSNT(fellow Techno party provocateurs of the Irish variety) to make sure whichever room you are in, and whatever time you happen to be in there, you’ll hear the most on point Techno and Electronic music around right now. As Individual Collective we bring the might of a group of artists that have particularly inspired us musically and creatively for quite some time now. Kangding Ray released his critically acclaimed album ‘Solens Arc’ in 2014, and he shows no sign of letting up with tracks and remixes on the cream of the crop of electronic music labels such as Stroboscopic Artefacts and for Ben Frost on the legendary Mute amongst others. He’s not played in London since his incredible performance for (the now defunkt)Colony party as part of the inaugural Plex/Colony/Bleed birthday knees up in November 2013. With that set still ringing in our ears, we knew it was time to bring him back to room one this time to test the breadth of the stunning Funktion One sound system. Ancient Methods has consistently been at the forefront of the underground Industrial Techno sound for quite some years now. His work alongside Regis as Ugandan Methods on Downwards is the stuff of legends too, and their release alongside Prurient(aka Vatican Shadow) was possibly one of 2014’s most anticipated releases. He’s turned in some fine remixes of recent times too, notably Powell’s ‘Club Music’ on label du jour Diagonal, and on Candela Rising for the ever impressive Manni Dee. We’re glad to bring him back, as his DJ set for us in Hackney has become the stuff of legends. You’ll be treated to a 2-hour DJ set from one of Techno’s most adored talents. Lakker never fail to impress. With a live set that stands almost unrivalled to most out there, the genre-defying Irish pair bring their Live/AV show to Corsica Studios as the stage is perfectly set to hear some of the very finest and awe inspiring Electronic music around right now. Their work as Lakker and separately as Eomac and Arad has graced the very best label’s, particularly R&S, Stroboscopic Artefacts, Killekill and Electric Deluxe. This one was a no-brainer for us, we can’t wait to hear what they have in store for us that’s for sure. *ANNOUNCEMENT! Pariah NOW ADDED!* As some of you may be aware, DJ Skirt has taken some time out from DJing and it is with a heavy heart that we announce that Skirt will no longer be able to celebrate with us next week. We are all absolutely gutted as Beth was with us for our first event last year but most importantly we wish her all the best and we look forward to welcoming her back at some point in the future... However, the good news is we are pleased to announce that we have invited a special guest, Pariah will now be joining us in Room 1! Whether he is releasing on R&S Records, on his own label Sheworks or teaming up with Blawan as Karenn, it is fair to say that Pariah is one of the most exciting talents to emerge from the UK in recent years. Individual Collective residents Billy Allen and Keylen will start the proceedings off in fine fashion with a back to back set that will set the scene nicely for the onslaught of quality music you’re sure to hear in room one on the night. DSNT are certainly not one trick ponies. With a record label, club events and visual work(and a hell of a lot more) to juggle, trying to understand how they maintain the quality across the board is mind boggling. Event’s across Ireland in recent years have cemented their place as the party to contend with. Serbia’s Exit festival saw them reach out to the European crew, having their own stage was a real testament to how far the guys really have come in regards to putting on a quality party. Seeing the likes of Blacknecks, Karenn, AnD, Bleaching Agent, Marcel Dettmann and loads more play at their events certainly shows how much of a force they are when it comes to bringing you some of Techno’s most uncompromising music. They bring their energy to room 2 and a slew of artists that have (in some way) shaped how and what they do. AnD are sitting at the top of the Techno pile right now, with their eponymous debut album dropping on Speedy J’s coveted Electronic Deluxe label. The stage is set for these guys to take over modern Electronic music, with gigs taking them far and wide, and remixes and releases bolstering their plight even more so. Their live set is talked about via social media, blogs and music press on a weekly basis in no less than glowing reports, and this is what you can expect from them once more on room 2’s thunderous sound system. Headless Horseman is one of Techno’s most intriguing characters. Berlin’s Atonal festival 2014 showed people what this enigma is capable of, with his set being one of the most talked about that weekend. Visually and musically, he sets a scene that in our opinion has to be seen and heard in person. His sets so far in London particularly have been nothing less than superb, and his white label releases set to continue to tell the story in fine fashion. Again, one of the best live sets around right now, and it’s consistently morphing, so you’re sure to hear something fresh each and every time. Sunil Sharpe’s set at the BoilerRoom can go down as one of the finest in recent history. This was his time, as he shrugged off any hugely underrated vibes and stepped into Techno titan history. His Earwiggle label consistently puts out the scene’s most diverse sounds, and the respect amongst his peers shows his hard work is certainly starting to pay off. Sunil and AnD will be playing an exclusive set at AD//SS on the night too, a one off that may never be repeated. Manni Dee and Myler are the “les enfant terribles” of the new breed Techno movement. Notching up releases on some of the most respected Techno labels around, there are big things to come for these young heavyweights. Their music has had notable plays from the likes of Perc, J.Tijn, Untold, Rebekah, Surgeon and many more, so expected some madness from this pair and their exclusive back to back session on the night. SOWN is a new project from a very well respected and seasoned figure within UK Techno. His live set is certain to get chins wagging just as much as his previous work that’s found it’s way onto compilations such as the Fabric CD series. We’re excited for this event to be the premiere of his set, and it will definitely show that there’s plenty more in the tank for this talented producer. All the festivities will be backed up by DSNT’s set of solid residents. A good party starts at it’s home grown talent, and these guys have a wealth of knowledge and technical prowess between them.
