Hard to believe that nearly two years have passed since our Swedish pals Genius of Time slapped our faces off with one of the most insanely awesome live shows ever at the Civic Underground. What we witnessed there was a couple of guys who were starting to make big waves in the house music world through their gorgeous disco-licked productions, their ultra-right Aniara Recordings imprint and their glorious performances.
It’s been those couple of years since, however, that have launched them into the next tier of fuck-yeah. The Juno Jam EP, their first release on Gerd Janson’s prestigious Running Back label, was undoubtedly one of the most scorching records of last year. They played everywhere from Robert-Johnson in Frankfurt and Berghain/Panorama Bar in Berlin toThe Garden Festival in Croatia and Breakfast Club in Israel, delivering the good times using one of the most epic live setups you’ll see on the dance music circuit. One half of the duo, Alexander Berg, also rattled the 2014 cage with a few solo 12-inches under his Dorisburg guise, including “Trust” which was (and still is) on permanent high-rotation at Picnic HQ. They seriously are just completely brilliant, and we’ve missed them hard since their last visit.
So here we go again! Genius of Time are going to be headlining a special Picnic x Soul Control show down at The Spice Cellar with Ben Fester B2B Preacha, Kali and Andy Webb on support.
