Nina Kraviz

  • There are no advance tickets for this event. Tickets are available at the door. Thank you “Trip”. That´s the word formed by the 4 cyrillic characters making up the name of Nina Kraviz´s newest flame : her own record label. That word perfectly encapsulates Nina´s musical output nowadays. It was noticeable in her DJ sets for some time now, but it´s becoming ever more apparent in her own productions : music for those hours which actually seem to last more than 60 minutes, when your body achieves it´s own free will with each rhythmic impact and when your eyes get lost in an infinity beyond the physical limits of the dancefloor. These intentions extend to the choice of artists working with her in this new venture, names who lean towards, in Nina´s words, “the trippier and acidic side of techno”. and whose choice once again demonstrates what a consumate crate-digger Nina is and how far-reaching her knowledge of music is : respected veterans deserving of more widespread popular acclaim like Terrence Dixon, Exos and Steve Stoll, or fresh and promising newcomers like Bjarki or Parrish Smith. The final piece in the current state of Nina-nation is her contribution to the respected DJ-Kicks mix series, which Nina is also promoting with this visit to Lux. It might be the most perfect distilling, through the music of others, of a less looked-upon side of Nina´s sound, mental, somewhat jagged and unpolished, with no need for bombast and more suited for after-hours perdition than big-room exhilaration. Complementing the music with spoken-word passages from her own mind, this DJ-Kicks mix perfectly mirrors one of Nina´s bigger charms among many, her penchant for taking risks and provoking purists, wrapped up in an accessible-but-not-that-accessible package. Nina´s sound-induced vertigo set to once again expand our minds in an extra-bodily “Trip”. - Nuno Mendonça
