For those that were lucky enough to attend Subtrakt Events' final party at the Brisbane institution Barsoma back in March 2013, then you'll be pleased to know that the gentlemen who helped us say farewell to Barsoma that night, will be helping us celebrate the beginning of 2016. Yep, Smallpeople are back and we're delighted to announce they'll be playing for Subtrakt Events on New Years Day 2016.
Smallpeople
Julius Steinhoff & Just von Ahlefeld aka Dionne are Smallpeople. Since 2006 they have been running the Smallville record store and record label out of Hamburg, Germany. Like the recordstore, their dj sets are focused on a wider range of music such as deep house, Detroit techno and some Chicago flavours, but always within the balance of atmospheric warmth and club suitability.
With an emphasis on dreamy low-key, yet spacious four to the floor material, and a roster that includes Move D, Lawrence, Christopher Rau and Moomin, among many other notables, Smallville's rarely taken a wrong turn over it's long lifetime. In September this year the label celebrated 10 years with an anniversary compilation entitled Smallville Ways, featuring most of the artists from the labels core crew such as STL, Jacques Bon, Christopher Rau, Lawrence, Moomin and Smallpeople.
As always Subtrakt Events have hand picked some of Brisbane's finest selectors to play alongside these German legends in one of Brisbane's finest beer gardens at The Wickham Hotel.
