Moodymann is a master. If you don't know who he is, read this review of his latest mix in Pitchfork: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/21580-dj-kicks/ The theme is about inspiration for the art and interactions at the event, so wear what makes you happy, whether it's a gigantic iron lung, or a black t-shirt. Background: The waiting room was a balmy 98.6 degrees, and very humid. It was a necessity for the comfort of the clientele. A nurse sat at a tall wooden desk on the far side, opposite where the patients walked in. A selection of lifestyle magazines sat splayed out in front for people to read, most of them a few millennia out of date and addressed to "Galen". Already the room was quite full. A Bundle of Nerves cowered in the corner, struggling with anxiety issues. There was a giant Ear suffering from several stab wounds around the lobe. And sat quietly rumbling near the door, a bloated Stomach. “Kidneys? We can see you now,” said the nurse. A child’s leg jumped to its foot. “I said Kidneys, not Kid’s Knee. Please sit back down and we’ll get to you shortly.” Inside the office, the wizened figure of Doctor Brain was flicking through an old copy of Gray's Anatomy, synapses sparkling with mischief, when the Kidney walked in. “Only one of you today?” said Dr. Brain. “You gave the other one away, remember?” the Kidney said. “You said it was for the best. You said I would be enough. I’ve been in therapy ever since.” Dr. Brain apologized. But it wasn’t the Kidney’s therapy that brought it to the Doctor today. It had been feeling severely dehydrated for some time and was looking for a cure. “Hang on?” said Dr. Brain, jumping to his feet and bumping his head on an oversized novelty light bulb above his desk. “Nurse, didn’t you say there was a bloated Stomach outside?” The idea was that by connecting the Stomach to the Kidney some of the liquid would drain through, thereby helping them both. But when the stomach came into the office everyone quickly realized that the two would not fit together. They needed an intestine. “I think there is a blocked Intestine outside,” said the nurse. “Shall I check?” Little by little, more and more body parts were called in. “I can’t get through the door,” said the Ear. “I think it’s jammed.” “Turn the knob,” said the Nurse. “Ow!” cried the Penis, jerking upright. The Ear had mis-understood what the nurse meant. One by one, all the different body parts were connected to each other, with the entire operation orchestrated by Dr Brain. Eventually, a glorious and convoluted web of individuals were all playing their part for the benefit of the human anatomy. The Heart suggested a sing-along to celebrate, picking up a guitar from the corner of the room. “I didn’t know you could play guitar, Heart,” said Dr. Brain. “Well,” the Heart replied. “I trained as an Organist, but I can pluck a few strings.” Just then, the office door swung open, clattering against the wall. An out of breath Appendix stood panting. “I heard you were gathering all the body parts together,” it said. “I heard you needed everyone to make the system complete.” The other body parts exchanged awkward side glances with one another. “We did need all the body parts. We just didn’t need you,” said Dr Brain. “Here's a triangle." -- Music by: Moodymann Doorly Andres Teddy Roosevelt Pony -- Some people who might be at the party: Rick Moranis Sting Mike Myers Cher’s sister’s friend -- Event is 21+ At Treetops, we like to engender a convivial, social, interactive environment. Some people dress up in costumes tied to theme. Some people don’t. If you would like to dress up in a costume tied to the theme, then you should. If you don’t want to, then don’t. You are still important to the party in a way the Appendix could only dream of. Like American healthcare, this party is not free. But if you buy early, it’s pretty close.
