The Bunker presents Kassem Mosse, Personable, Mike Servito, Ulysses

  • The Bunker celebrates the 4th of July with a backyard party at Trans Pecos featuring some of our old friends. KASSEM MOSSE Workshop, Honest Jon's | Leipzig Not a lot is known about German artist Kassem Mosse, and we're happy to keep it that way. He came to our attention via his string of releases on the mysterious Hardwax-distributed Workshop label, and lately has been working with one of the World's greatest labels, Honest Jon's. The deeply narcotic sound of his records reference many of our favorite artists, yet have Kassem's undeniable sonic signature written all over them. His extended, spaced-out, hardware-heavy sets at The Bunker in the past floored everyone in attendance, so we'd say you are in for a real treat today with this live set from one of electronic music's most unique voices. Today is KM's first set in NYC in quite some time. He played at The Bunker in 2011, 2012, and 2013, and hasn't appeared in NYC since (although the Sustain Release campers got to see him upstate last summer). PERSONABLE (AKA M. GEDDES GENGRAS) Opal Tapes, Peak Oil | Los Angeles M. Geddes Gengras has inhabited the Los Angeles experimental music scene for the last 8 years, bouncing through various bands, monikers, and a critically acclaimed collaboration with Sun Araw and The Congos. The producer perhaps shines most brightly, however, when left to his own bespoke devices. His solo work is largely based in modular synthesis, comfortably straddling a variety of forms while remaining rooted in a deep affinity for the limitations of analog electronics and a keen ear for timbral manipulation. He's also put out some amazing techno releases as Personable on Opal Tapes and Peak Oil, which is the project he presents today. https://soundcloud.com/green-machines MIKE SERVITO The Bunker New York Mike Servito is from a very special yet temporary and partially lost fertile crescent of techno / house / party DJing. It was a time when raves were still a fresh idea, almost felt like a revolution, and DJs like Claude Young, D Wynn, Derrick Carter and Mike Huckaby were informing an upcoming generation. If you look directly to that inspired generation you will find the lost threads of Detroit Techno, House and beyond, you will find a group of DJs with insanely deep mixing skills, the ability to rock almost any kind of party with an improvisational approach that is so skilled it makes everything seem so well thought out that even they don't know where their set will go. But, it will take you there! In the future, this special generation of deep midwest mixers will be remembered and revered as the wizards they are, long after the trendy players have lost their luster. Detroit never forgot about Mike Servito, his upfront dirty deep and bitchy taste has had an impact on Detroit nightlife for over a decade. From debuting in 1995 at Dat's Poorboy parties, to being a resident at blackbx and Ghostly's Untitled (along with Derek Plaslaiko, Tadd Mullinix, Matthew Dear, and Ryan Elliott), contributing to the bizarrely popular, wild and free Dorkwave, and progressing that concept into Sass (the hippest queer party in Detroit at the time), to blowing minds at Interdimensional Transmissions' No Way Back parties, Servito has made his impression. Moving to Brooklyn, Detroit's loss has been their gain, as he has found a proper home with a residency at The Bunker, and representation by Beyond Booking in North America and Odd Fantastic in Europe. http://soundcloud.com/mikeservito ULYSSES The Bunker New York, Scatalogics When it comes to new music from Ulysses, you never know what you're going to get. His career has spanned genres from techno and house to experimental and disco, with every release delivering an exciting musical surprise. An essential pioneer of the late-‘90s electro scene in New York, Ulysses threw some of the biggest large-scale electro parties with legends such as Alexander Robotnick and Arthur Baker, as well as stars like I-f, Adult, and Miss Kittin and the Hacker. Over the span of his eclectic discography, this Brooklyn-based DJ and music producer has collaborated with Thugfucker’s Holmar Filipsson as Filipsson & Ulysses as well as with John Selway in the prolific Neurotic Drum Band. Today we celebrate Ulysses' second EP for The Bunker New York, the Feelings EP, released in June. https://soundcloud.com/scatalogics
