Rabid Festival

  • Rabid Festival is a 12 hour, five room celebration of electronic music and takes place at London Bridge’s seOne on Saturday 7th November from 8pm-8am. They’ll be the best talent from underground promoters and top international Dj’s with rooms hosted by: WetYourSelf, Lost Souls, Ketoloco, Trailer Trash and DJ Magazine. Expect state-of-the-art sound, lighting and a mind blowing soundsystem. Early bird tickets cost £25 and then increase to £35 + BF – we think you’ll agree this is great value for money. And, as a special treat for Early Birders, there will be a limited amount of tickets that will include free entry to the Rabid Festival pre-party featuring Davide Squillace at the end of October. Rabid Festival sees techno superstar Umek, Matthias Tanzmann (Moon Harbour Recordings / DC10), Andre Kraml (Kompakt) and Silversufer (Crosstown Rebels) – sharing the limelight with respected London talent like Hannah Holland & Mikki Most (Trailer Trash), FB Julian (Kubicle) and a huge cast of others. Rabid’s organisers, the Icona Group said: “London needs a winter indoor festival – people don’t just want to party in the summer! What are they supposed to do the rest of the year while it’s dark and cold outside?” WetYourSelf promoter and Rabid Festival room host Cormac agrees: “Raving is an all year round past time! London is a fantastic city in that there are always incredible events and parties available throughout the year. Date-wise this is the perfect time to do a big party as we gear up for the Christmas party season. The rave family of London will be hungry for this incredible line-up!’ The Icona crew started promoting in Mexico, where most clubbing events are still massive outdoor parties for around 15,000 people. One of their highlights included bringing the likes of Moby and Underworld to a crowd of 30,000, at the Xtremo Festival in 2008. The WetYourSelf room will be a polysexual tech-house-electro binge, Ketoloco will be all things minimal, and techno will be represented in the Lost Souls’ room to name a few... A selection of some of the global artists... DJ Umek is an internationally acclaimed music producer from Slovenia who has been seducing the masses with his own music blend for more than a decade. Always on the lookout for new sounds and determined to challenge every existing cliché in the music industry, he managed to define his own vision of vanguard techno. His supporters include Recycled Loops, Consumer Recreation and Astrodisco - between them they defined ‘Slovenian techno sound’ and successfully propelled it as an important driving force on the global club scene. Andi Meid alias D.I.M. is a Berlin based Dj who likes to keep out of the spotlight. He’s done remixes for Depeche Mode, Chromeo, Tiga, Jape and Junkie XL. He’ll serve us some of his newest maximalist electro-house titbits and has recently released on Boysnoize Records and Tiga’s Turbo Recordings. Ambivalent is a resident of New York and has worked with artists such as Carl Craig, Thomas Brinkmann, Dimbiman, Ryoji Ikeda, Pole, Magda, Troy Pierce and his roommate Jesse (Heartthrob) as well as Matthew Dear, Akufen, Sammy Dee and M-nus. He regularly Djs in New York, and on his internet radio show, ‘The Nerd Tank’, with Camea. He has released and remixed on Minus, Clink, Klickhaus, Esperanza, and Leftroom. Expect dark growling minimal techno. Italian M_nus starlet Fabrizio Maurizi (a.k.a Roger on the Italian scene) pays particular attention to the original Detroit techno movement. His tracks explore the sometimes dark, sometimes funky side of techno, using completely mad vocal samples to give his music a unique flavour. If you like it chunky and techy, Paul Ritch will be performing live playing one of his rocket-fuelled laptop sets no doubt showcasing plenty of his latest tracks. Ritch has put the groove back into minimal. His works, praised by the likes of Richie Hawtin and Anja Schneider find the perfect balance between techno’s mathematical squareness and the organic soft feel of Latin music and funk, as it used to be back in Detroit, when Atkins, May and Saunderson fused Kraftwerk’s robotic melodies with their own ancestor’s soul for the first time. Ritch has released tracks on Resopal, Get Physical, Minisketch, Kickboxer and Paradigma Musik. Also performing live are duo Deepgroove. Over the course of 2009 a cluster of recordings for some of the most influential labels in the world: Cocoon, Rekids, Klang and Harthouse has seen Deepgroove establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with amongst the legion hordes of the globes techno devotees. Their partnership with legendary techno producer Jamie Anderson has led to a steady stream of innovative club destroying moments, whilst they have continued to work on solo remixes and releases. Deepgroove will make the most of their four decks with a special EFX performance. Dj Magazine said: “With a 100% party attitude and a keen ear for exactly the right tune to devastate the dancefloor, Deepgroove consistently smash it.” Matthias Tanzmann has released numerous ep’s, three mix compilations and remixed several tracks. He often works with Steve Bug and Daniel Stefanik, drawing inspiration from the new dynamics and sounds that the collaborative process can create. Behind the decks he has advanced to become one of the most popular and booked German house Djs in the world, later securing residencies at Flokati (Munich) and Circo Loco at DC10 (Ibiza). Over the years his tracks have developed from classical deep house with a European edge, to minimal house bordering on ambitious techno, groove and deepness. These are just a handful of top-notch dj’s performing on the night. If you like all things electronic, pen this date in your diary now! There will also be an afterparty which kicks off at 6am and is hosted by Rabid Festival and Lost Souls at Cable, Bermondsey with Seth Troxler (Wolf + Lamb) and Jamie Jones (Crosstown Rebels) plus more secret guests from Rabid Festival. Will it be Tanzmann, Paul Ritch or Fabrizio ??? A true Berlin style after party, the way it should be done! Prior to that – to get Londoner’s in the mood for all things Rabid crew will be hosting the festival pre-party on Friday 30 October with Davide Squillace at EGG. Details of which will be announced soon.
