• Yep, you’re reading this right – storming their way to Australian shores for the Queens Birthday long weekend are acts that amaze, excite and carry the bang with the pizzazz. The word is out. The minimal lovers are moist, and frankly, the scene is a buzz with anticipation. The forums are rampant, with good reason. It’s a minimal lovers’ delight where live acts and DJs collide for a night of pure entertainment that’ll have the Queen ditching afternoon tea to join the mischief. Jennifer Cardini: Paris must be a wonderful place to party. Cardini is a Parisian master of deep house, minimal electro and dark pop. When Cardini laces a track with her sultry lyrics you just know it’s going to be good. Cardini holds a much regarded place in the Parisian scene as party pleaser who is known for style and substance. Take Feeling Strange, her foray into grubby minimal. Cardini’s got credibility, and more importantly, she’s got talent. Pan/tone: Skip the foreplay and get down to business. The Canadian native may have spent the majority of his youth covered in snow yet his music warms up dance floors across the globe. In 1994 he stumbled across Techno. The Detroit scene, which happened to be just over the border from his hometown, beckoned. He upped sticks, moved to Detroit to study music engineering where he now uses his sublime knowledge to craft what we hear today. With two albums to his name, Newfound Urban Calm (released 2004) and Skip the Foreplay (released 2008) anyone lucky enough to see him live will be talking about his performance in years to come. Popnoname: No doubt you’ve heard that his debut album, White Album, is a progressive and enjoyable listen that includes his trademark blend of vocal, long introductions and intense snyth sounds. That he produced an acclaimed album that grabbed the best bits from the mainstream with melodies from techo and house is something to behold. Sid LeRock: Like a chameleon, Sid LeRock’s style changes depending on circumstance. Shelbono "Barracuda" del Monte, real name Sid LeRock, was born in Canada. Actually, he was born in “lumberjack’ land and went against his father’s wishes of following in the lumberjack tradition. Good job. Instead LeRock went leftfield and decided music was his calling. LeRock’s approach to composition is techno plus rock (or Rockno). Regardless of the definition, he – or it – rocks. His appeal is a broad as his nation of origin. His focus is on creating minimal compositions that float independently of styles. Kompakt has earned the reputation of the go-to house label for the independent and invigorating music. The imprint recognises music that moves. And so should you. This Queen’s Birthday long weekend the minimal madness is about to hit town. Miss it at your peril. Coinciding with the Australian label tour, Kompakt have supplied us with a link to two gems; Pan/Tone's Shame, and Popnoname's 2012
