Ireland's longest running techno institution Bastardo Electrico celebrates 15 years of putting on events in Cork City and beyond, inviting one of their favourite guests DVS1 back to help them mark the occasion alongside resident and founder Jamie Behan.
DVS1- Immersed in the heydays of the '90s Midwest rave scene, DVS1 (Zak Khutoretsky) has gained a highly respected reputation for his versatile skills, infectious energy and physical power behind the decks. As a resident DJ of Berlin’s infamous Berghain / Panorama Bar, he moves floors of the world’s most prestigious and best venues crafting the art of DJing through always being in the mix, pushing his own boundaries and sensitively reacting to the people’s energy. Molded by massive sound systems composed of walls of speakers, DVS1’s vision of techno is based on the physical power of music. Zak’s pure approach of sound being his personal channel to capture the very moment in time is as dedicated as his continuation to shape the electronic scene in his hometown Minneapolis – from throwing illegal warehouse parties to owning a nightclub to running his own sound company for two decades. DVS1 is also renowned as an outspoken defender of underground’s true values that established the American DJ, producer and label owner as a truly exceptional character of today’s contemporary electronic music scene.
JAMIE BEHAN- Emerging from the Irish electronic music scene of the late 90s, Jamie Behan has established himself as one of the foremost techno DJs in Ireland and is often dubbed the "godfather" of the techno scene in Cork as the founder and resident DJ at Bastardo Electrico, Ireland's longest running techno night. Having gained a reputation for his fast-paced powerful style of mixing, cutting and blending across different shades & styles of techno, electro, and jacking house, he regularly plays across Ireland every weekend with increasingly frequent forays abroad at venues such as Tresor in Berlin, Corsica Studios in London, Aquarius in Zagreb, Dimensions Festival in Croatia amongst other clubs in the UK, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Croatia, and Bahrain. After early forays into production in 2009-2010 with releases on his own label Bastardo Electrico, Static, and Nice & Nasty, Behan is now to set to release his debut solo ep in 2018. He is also involved in a number of production collaborations, with Stephen Mahoney under the alias "Flexure", whose debut "Shadow Puppets" EP gained plays and plaudits from many of techno's heavy hitters, and as "Cork Bangers" with KilleKill boss DJ Flush.
