Paul Kalkbrenner is one of the biggest performers in modern electronic music. It therefore gives us great pleasure to be welcoming him back to Printworks for a headline live show on Saturday 9th December. Whether it’s his mesmerising live performance, his impressive album back-catalogue or his star-turn in the lead role of cult-favourite Berlin Calling, Paul is an all-round superstar. Forged in the aftermath of the collapse of the Berlin Wall, with the backdrop of techno, Paul’s formative years in music coincide with Germany’s reunification. Forever a patriot, it’s a rarity to catch him without his cherished German football shirt. Paul Kalbrenner is as iconic as they come. He’ll be joined by other industry bigwigs. The Jackin’ Queen, Heidi. With her distinctive platinum blonde curls and boundless energy, the Canadian DJ cuts an instantly recognisable figure behind the decks. Her acclaimed label and party-series Jackathon has thrown parties all over the globe. She’s also been heavily involved in Radio 1’s dance music programming and was part of the opening team behind Phonica records. Quite a list of accolades. Tiga is an act who has never subscribed to templates and stereotypes. Instead he’s opted to grow into an artist on his own terms. He produces music with undeniable pop-appeal, but can conversely also tread darker territory. When he’s no pushing musical boundaries himself, he’s signing talent to his exceptional Turbo Recordings imprint. Joris Voorn is the embodiment of the tech-savvy, modern-artist DJ. His wide-ranging taste is reflected across his two labels. Rejected – a tech-house powerhouse with a focus on dancefloor ready hits. And Green – occupying more emotive and subtle tones of electronica. And this year in Ibiza – where he has held numerous residencies – he was a pivotal component of Hï’s Thursday night underground offering In the Dark. Whether playing vinyl or displaying mad skills on Ableton, Voorn is the Dutch maverick who leave no musical influence unturned. Max Cooper is the epitome of technological innovation in electronic music. The former microbiologist has always shown an interest in exploring the relationship between science and music. And this is no less evident than his stunning Live A/V shows, with each update promising to captivate and enthral the audience more than the last. To see the Belfast-native perform live is to feel the music. An experience not to pass up.
