The last gig blew my mind; at the close of the night when I'd eeked every last second out of the 4am curfew, the love & atmosphere that remained in Ink was like nothing I'd experienced before. CLEVER BOX & FRIENDS is now entrenched as one of Auckland’s most distinct voices in underground electronic music. Each party includes both established and future heroes performing predominantly original music alongside resident and curator; Clever Box. Down the stairs at Ink you’ll discover a melting pot of fanatical techno adventurers, musicians and peace-loving earth wanderers all rubbing shoulders with the regular club kids. There’s absolutely no discrimination on the dancefloor, it’s an awesome experience to be part of such a supportive and all-encompassing crowd all immersed in the same musical language.
Our mission for 2017 is to provide the clever box in which magic is made, to always colour outside of the lines, whilst simultaneously gathering up a whole raft of epic new friends along the way.

The theme is loose as a goose, anything clever - something you've already got at home, something you buy or hire, or something you get all crafty with and create out of cardboard boxes; it's all up to you! The best costume will be judged at 1am and most cleverest will win a $100 bartab, so get those braincells working, clever is as clever does!

DANIEL FARLEY has been a mainstay of the New Zealand dance scene for well over a decade. He won best DJ at the Nite:Life awards in 2010/2011 and also won best venue at the George FM awards just last week with his club creation Impala. He also produces under the alias Terace and as such has remixed the likes of Rufus, Peking Duk, Flume, Miami Horror, and many more.
He is an owner of record label Medium Rare Recordings, as well as event company Red Rum Touring plus the house and techno brand Charades in Australia. As well, he runs several festivals across the country and internationally, including Your Paradise Fiji, Hidden Valley, and Summer Classic. Having toured hundreds of international acts across his career means that his musical taste and repertoire is vast and eclectic. His style these days has evolved into solid, upfront house music, with the odd classic thrown in for good measure. When he's on the decks you can be sure the bass from the speakers is constantly reverberating with energy.

FACETTES is a musical collaboration between two long-time French friends, who have been DJing together since their teens. Twenty years on from their adolescent musical obsessions, they found themselves at the antipodes of the earth, Ben G in Strasbourg (France) and Klassix from Paris in Auckland (NZ). Ironically, despite being the greatest distance that they have ever lived from each other, communication via the internet gave them the flexibility to be far more productive than ever, and a natural collaboration ensued.
Facettes is about producing tracks that reflect their emotions, fusing deep house, tech-house and cosmic techno. Their DJ set is a combination of deep, hypnotic and melodic atmosphere. Facettes’ productions have been released on labels like Cinematique, Dear Deer Records, Ein2/Eimusika, My Visions, Karmic Powers, Miam records and soon on Kolombo’s Label LouLou Records and Moodart.
