- DJ Seinfeld’s beats are guided by an idea of authenticity, true to the spirit of the early house pioneers and the unabashed rawness the confines their equipment imposed. The rough edges of his productions imitate the discontinuities in the origins of House music; a singer's voice, charged with emotion, overwhelms a machine unfit for its visceral strength. The product is worn, but warm; crackling with energy and muted all at once. A lot has been made of this magnetic lo-fi fuzz, but DJ Seinfeld hesitates to call it a "scene." His path is his own, and Dance From Above is thrilled his path in support of his debut album, Time Spent Away From U (Lobster Fury), is crossing Greensboro on November 10.
