We've made it to Number 6!!! It's birthday time again and to celebrate 6 years in the game we're mixing the old and the new. We've got an act whose records have been a massive influence on the Numbers crew and then we got two of the hottest new producers on the planet who we're pretty damn excited about.
MMM / Erik & Fiedel
Representing the old are the mighty MMM aka Erik & Fiedel - The creator's of 'Donna' which has been a Glasgow dancefloor staple since 1997 thanks to Rubadub and the world famous Paisley club under a curry house. Erik is mostly known these days for his Errorsmith project and for being one half of Smith 'N' Hack, while Fiedel is a resident at the world famous Berghain in Berlin. Many years ago the duo performed their first ever live set for us at the Brunswick Hotel... it's about time we unleashed this beast at the Sub Club.
Guido & Gemmy
The new school is represented by rising Dubstep stars Gemmy & Guido. With Glasgow and Bristol being at the forefront of Britain's electronic music scene right now we just had to invite our Bristolian cousins up for their Glasgow debut. Alongside former Numbers favourite Joker, they form part of the hailed Purple Trinity, famed for their take on Dubstep that sidesteps the stereotypical wobblers in favour of Prince, Dr Dre, G-Funk and modern day R&B influences like the Neptunes and Danja, with Guido recently being touted as the British answer to Timbaland by The Wire writer Joe Muggs. Their music can be found on Bristol label Punch Drunk and the famed electronica label Planet Mu.
Numbers
Now in to its 6th year, Numbers is a collective of record labels, designers, writers, DJs and producers. The club was heralded as the second best night in the UK and "one of the coolest clubs in the world" by Mixmag and the focus of their recent 4 page spread on Glasgow. This last year has seen the Numbers crew up the ante with our DJ's releasing records and performing all over the Europe whilst our in house labels Stuffrecords and Wireblock have dominated the UK's electronic music scene. Expect some big announcements ahead as we prepare to do something very special with these labels.
