Foundations: A History of UK Garage
It is a remarkable feat that this formerly underground genre still has the influence over music today that it did 10 years ago. From it’s early forms in 1994 and its influence over seminal UK artists like Dizzee Rascal, Wiley and The Streets it has achieved success in both the mainstream and the underground. In it’s relatively short life in musical terms, it has either directly created or influenced: 2step, Speed Garage, Dubstep, Bassline, Grime, UK Funky and not to mention all the other genres it influenced outside of the Garage spectrum.
For our last show of January we throwback to garage’s heyday, exploring the various sub genres and offshoots, accompanied by one of the most influential artists in the sound, Groove Chronicles.
Responsible for one of the most seminal garage tracks ever made, Stonecold, Noodles has been delivering a masterclass in the genre every time he steps up to the decks. Alongside him will be some of the finest local talent in the shape of Hadean, Charris, A1, Mista K9 and Movement.
