Level 1 it's all out audio warfare as your SLST host with the absolute most aka JAZZHEADCHRONIC is here to take no prisoners, dropping a nuclear load of dancefloor rareness, classics and anthems hard on the floor and waits for the sweat to fall. HEAVY BEAT BRASS BAND
Heralding from the Birmingham Conservatoire, HEAVY BEAT BRASS remix modern Jazz, Pop and Funk music with the sounds of a roaring New Orleans brass band. The band is inspired by the heavy drum beats of modern day second line brass music and tonight they will be playing a wide variety of original brassy compositions as well as classic and modern pop tunes remixed with the sounds of a New Orleans brass band, combining jazz influences and improvisation with Hip-Hop & RnB, Drum & Bass, Reggae & much more + we truly can’t wait to welcome them back to The South London Soul Train Stage.
THE SHACKS (On Stage at 1130pm)
The Shacks — equal parts Max Shrager and Shannon Wise singing in her soft whispered voice — sound like they’re playing alone with nobody watching. This dreamy, voyeuristic sound was born in a Queens, NY studio in 2014. And while they describe themselves as a rock band, don’t expect the conventional kind.
There are elements of doo-wop and early, pre-Elvis rock in their musicianship. Combine that with a deeply personal songwriting approach and it’s a familiar-yet-fresh sound. Like The Five Keys met Neil Young and cut a record with Brigitte Bardot — but in English.
In a modern culture where most music is manufactured and artificial, Max Shrager and Shannon Wise want to introduce their generation to a more honest kind of music. A kind that’s written from life and made with integrity and value. And all this before either of them can rent a car.
This band are a bit gentler than the roaring acts we usually put on the SLST live Stage, but when we heard they were coming through from the US, we simply couldn't help ourselves. Your Northern Soul Room hosts The Legendary ROB MESSER + WARREN BOOGALOO drop more seismic northern soul joints of epic proportions, hard and heavy on yehs. All on 45! This rooms for the dancers good people and believe us when we say "you're gonna feel it, LONG TIME!”
