Responsible for one of the noughties' defining experimental electronic albums in Loop-finding-jazz-records, Jan Jelinek's solo output since 2006 has been scarce to say the least. But this year marks a new album from the German artist, entitled Zwischen, which in true experimental Jelinek style is an adaptation of a German radio play.
Any live appearance from Jelink is a rare thing, so it's a real honour to welcome him back again after his sell out show at Jazz Cafe with Masayoshi Fujita last year.
Oliver Coates is a cellist and producer from London. His concerts and records move through different arenas of music. His recent releases include a solo electronic dance record, Upstepping, on PRAH, a record of improvisations, Remain Calm, with Mica Levi on Slip, and a recording of John Luther Adams’ Canticles of the Sky on RVNG Intl.
For many years he has collaborated with the visual artist Lawrence Lek, for whom he scored the award-winning video pieces Unreal Estate and QE3, and has performed with Terry Riley, Steve Reich, Jonny Greenwood, Mica Levi and Actress, and is currently working with Laurie Spiegel and John Luther Adams.
