LTO first made waves as part of mysterious electronic collective Old Apparatus. Their music - anonymous, dark, ghostly, subterranean - was reminiscent of dubstep, garage and grime scenes, but sheened with a nocturnal miasma and a fierce intellect, obfuscated by deliberate myth-making. And while LTO as a solo producer retains elements of this darkness and beguiling sound-design, his latest LP 'Storybook' sees him let the light in.

Formed by Daniel Broomhall and Samuel Price-Salisbury and later joined by Abbi Philips in the latter months of 2017, the group seemingly explore the mechanical circumstances of the world, the engines and turbines obtrusive amongst the sky and ground. Broomhall’s vocals are purposefully impassive, yet increasingly pained, an untypical progression in mood from the methodical rhythms of electronic music. That’s unquestionably what makes MONK’s approach individualistic, a seamless indulgence in various atmospheres that doesn’t purposefully remove itself from a single dimensional route, rather be open to the opportunity of testing various aesthetics.

Bitzer Maloney
Part of the brilliant Bakk-Heia night and definitely one to to pay attentions to. His sets cover a great range and scope and he never fails to disappoint. If you caught his set at The White Hotel at new year then you know what he's capable of.
