New City Movement presents Sassmouth, Adam Stolz

  • New City Movement invites you to join us as Chicago and Salt Lake collide for one night only. Vinyl Forward House and Techno like a dream from outer space. 21+, Full Bar. First come first swerve. Selectors: Sassmouth // Smart Bar Residents | God Particle The ever-elusive SASSMOUTH is one of the more fascinating selectors from Planet Chicago. Known for abundant basslines, dazzling melodies, and unparalleled orchestral ear, she is wild and free and coming to Salt Lake City. Her ‘god particle’ label launched in 2013, and ‘Planet Chicago’ club night a year later at the legendary ‘Smartbar’, where she continues her residency. Following the similarly paramount achievement of being enlisted as a resident for the San Francisco based ‘As You Like It’ production group in early 2013, this inimitable force continues to sensibly organize each and every appearance, covering specific genres, regions and/or habitats (deep oceans, techno, Great Lakes, house, shallow seas, electro, urban rivers, experimental, etc.) until the entire Planet has been magnificently represented by the most astonishing sounds you've ever experienced. Adam Stolz // Open Channel | The Saturday Mess Over the last 20 years, Adam has dug himself into the rich Chicago music scene, becoming a good friend and mentor to many of the city’s amazing artists and djs alike. In that time he’s had the privilege to share the decks with Nightmares on Wax, Paco Osuna, DJ Hyperactive, Audio Soul Project, and Boo Williams to name a few. In tandem with his djing he has also had his music remixed by such talented producers as Lee Curtiss, Dan Curtin, and Frankie Vega. In December, he and production partner, Martin Daniel, celebrated the 5th anniversary of their debauch day party series “The Saturday Mess”. Adam’s most recent project is a collaboration with Knoxville based producer/artist, Ryan Boos (of Nomadic Firs). Their project ‘Open Channel’ is a beat-centric free-flow of ideas that doesn’t focus on any particular tempo/genre. Taking inspiration from old dusty vinyl samples to field-recordings to classic sci-fi TV shows, Open Channel is an experience of two friends combining musical histories to fulfill their array of tastes and styles. Their first single “The Star” was released in November on Bad Panda Records. Choice // aka Nicole Jaatoul | Clan:destine As one of Salt Lake City's premier DJ's Nicole knows best how to play for the crowd while sharing the sounds she loves. We are thrilled to have her in the mix. Matthew Fit // New City Movement Matthew Fit remains inspired by his memories of I-94, the highway connecting Detroit and Chicago where he came of age at raves and warehouse parties surrounding Kalamazoo. Matthew's sets sew the past and future together with the energy only a dyed-in-the-wool Midwesterner can bring. Through his association with New City Movement, and his work in the community, he has helped bring his new home of Salt Lake City closer to the house and techno sounds he holds dear.
