• Under their respective artist names Truss and Tessela, brothers Tom and Ed Russell have forged formidable individual reputations as producers. Defining tracks such as Truss’ ‘Beacon’ and Tessela’s ‘Hackney Parrot’ for the likes of R&S and their own Poly Kicks label, have encapsulated so much of what is exciting and vital in UK underground, electronic music. Their collaborative project Overmono, now sees Tom and Ed come together on record for the very first time, In their own words… “Despite doing some live shows together and the fact that we’re brothers, we hadn’t ever really written music together and wanted to start something new. We decided to head to a remote cottage in rural Wales, near to where we grew up. The trip ended up being the most creative stint either of us had ever had and after a week we had the foundations for Overmono.” Since the formation of Overmono, the brothers have released the Arla EP trilogy on XL recordings to critical acclaim and remixed Nathan Fake’s ‘Degreelessness’ and turned it into one of the biggest underground anthems of recent years. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Grinding acidic gear and psycotropic madness; esoteric beastings and passages of serene calm; clam fisted grin smithery and off kilter wreckage, the music made by Dom Clare and Leon Carey is the product of an endearing friendship and years spent agitating in the more obscure corners of the Leeds underground. Playing music together since 2000, they initially started to experiment with electronic sounds in the lauded Chops, a band who ably joined the dots between cranky lo fi electronics and the open ended spirit of free jazz. Splitting in 2010, the pair then briefly formed Runners before finding their true calling as Chrononautz. Self released in 2014, their ‘Public Domain Fuckover Series #1-6’ was quickly picked up by the likes of fellow Leeds resident, ex Blackneck and all round mischievous techno impresario Bleaching Agent as well as Quietus editor John Doran. Drawing on a welter of influences and honing long improvisational sessions, the music contained on the series was an intense, often brutal, depth charge exploration into warped acidic crank. With most tracks hitting the 20 minute mark, their heady vision took hold in a pleasingly immersive fashion, and the series was eventually listed in The Quietus Albums of the Year 2014. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Linnemann has been a staple over at Hope Works in Sheffield for the past 5 years as well as putting on his own STI (Sheffield Techno Institute) parties. During that time he's shared the stage with everyone from Jeff Mills and Ben Sims, to Veronica Vasicka and Steevio. Having witnessed for ourselves his thoughtful selection and serious skills behind the decks, we're very excited to welcome him on board as resident. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jamie Hudson is a Leeds based artist. His work considers shifting identities, comparing digitally formalised conceptions of life with the mess of lived experience. He produces material results that are often erratic and enveloping, making use of accessible means of assembly such as writing and sound aggregation. He operates Sendspaace, a publishing imprint and radio project that distributes sound-work while examining the transitory patterns of technology and production. He also programs experimental music events as part of Nail to Head in Leeds.
