  • Exercised time and prepared piano — Cameron Deas is an experimental musician based in London. Currently working with electronics, he uses an integrated array of synthesis techniques that are triggered by, and in turn manipulate, external acoustic sound sources, in and out of conjunction with pure electronic sounds. Working in an entirely live environment, Deas creates a kind of real-time musique concrete, resulting in an abstract yet organic contemporary electronic music. Also known for his work as a guitarist, Deas’s debut LP for his electronic work, String Studies, was a suite that focused on using the 12 string acoustic guitar as the sole sound source of this live musique concrete: a wooden frame to an electronic music. String Studies was released in 2014 on Alter. His new album Time Exercises, where he continues his explorations into these territories, was released on The Death of Rave in late February. Andrea Taeggi works in Berlin as a composer, live performer and electronic music producer. Besides his solo practice (among others as Gondwana) he is involved in different collaborative projects including Lumisokea, which he is co-leading together with Koenraad Ecker. His music has been released on Opal Tapes, Alter, Type and SM-LL. Andrea’s latest work Noméri—Tere will be published through Präsens Editionen on the day of Andrea’s show in Lucerne as a limited edition of professionally cut 12” dubplates and as a booklet (including a download code) featuring an essay by Marc Schwegler. The album is the culmination of a six-months period of research, residencies, recordings and composition carried out throughout 2017. Motivated by the need to shed new light over some of his earlier practices in acoustic music, Andrea started to grow a vocabulary using the sonic potential of the piano as a whole. The recordings were taken at EMS Stockholm on a re-tuned piano soundboard with its strings. — This evening is part of an ongoing series of events organized by Lucerne based magazine zweikommasieben — a publication that has been devoted to the documentation of contemporary music and sounds since the summer of 2011. The magazine features artist interviews, essays and columns as well as photography, illustration and graphics. In addition zweikommasieben organizes concerts, performances, club nights and other events in various cities.
