MUTEK San Francisco’s first night at Mezzanine showcases a full array of left-field club music, featuring the North American solo live premiere of legendary dub techno innovator Moritz von Oswald (Basic Channel, Maurizio, Rhythm & Sound); the West Coast debut of Equiknoxx, the Jamaican outfit reconfiguring dub and dancehall into new forms; Lee Gamble, a British artist exploring the outer reaches of drum’n’bass and jungle; Japan’s Kyoka, who crafts minimal techno-pop with a glitchy edge; Mexico’s Debit, part of Distrito Federal culture-jamming crew NAAFI, performing with visual artist Giselle Zatonyl; and Only Now, a San Francisco artist who blends dancehall, kuduro, industrial, and experimental music into a new sound completely his own.
