Live electronic night Vor~Sprung launches with a party celebrating the first new A Man Called Adam release in a decade and a crop of new electronic acts..
Few bands have been as involved in the development of UK dance music as A Man Called Adam. Their career pioneered Acid Jazz, spearhead Balearic House and Chill Out and became the standard barer of UK House and nu disco.
They became Gilles Peterson's in-house band and released one of the first singles on the Acid Jazz label. Their hit, Barefoot In The Head, kick started the Balearic House genre. After band member Paul Daley left to form Leftfield, AMCA became the figure heads of Chill Out - and the most constant feature of the Café Del Mar compilations
In the late '90's they were at the centre of London's UK House/ Nu Disco scene and went on to define the characteristic sound of UK clubs going into the millennium. After taking a break to pursue academia and sound design, they recently re-appeared DJing unannounced together for the first time in a decade at the Camden Underground club night. It's anyone's guess what genre they'll be involved with next.
Hailing from the Faroe Isle, Orka started out making electronic instruments from old farmyard machinery (which, on a mid North Atlantic Island, was more obtainable than an off-the-shelf synth). Now operating as a boy girl duo playing analogue synths and home built instruments. they crackle between sensuality and brutalism. 'Easily one of the most exciting acts to appear in a long time.' Ben Osborne and Maella is a new collaboration between London DJ Ben Osborne and Prague singer Maella. As yet unreleased or available online, one of their tracks caused a flurry of unanswered google searches when it recently cropped up on Amy Lamé's BBC 6 Music show.
Sorrdes is a new electronic act plucked from the barren wilds of the East Coast. His music combines ambient pulses and pads with often deceptively caustic rhythm patterns. Detroit relocated to rural England's East Coast..
Producer and DJ George T is described as Greco Roman's secret weapon - GR being Joe from Hot Chip's label. Ben Osborne is a DJ, writer, creative producer and Noise of Art founder.. Vor~Sprung is German for 'jump forward' and a new project celebrating alternative and innovative electronic music.
