Sat Jul 14 - The South London Soul Train once again turns things up to 11 and invites you to get seriously funked up and positively get down, as your dancefloor toasting host with the absolute most JAZZHEADCHRONIC welcomes one of Europe's hottest and funkiest bands, the unstoppable tour de force that are THE LEHMANNS BROTHERS (LIVE). JHC, The LB's + SPECIAL GUEST DJ here to sonically demolish Level 1 of The CLF Art Cafe. Inviting you to dance harder y'all and truly get some!!!! + (and as always) we got so much more on 4 floors. Part of our on-going mission to move your mind & body + force feed yoh soul with the absolute best of times at The South London Soul Train.
LEVEL 1 - THE LEHMANNS BROTHERS (LIVE)
THE LEHMANNS BROTHERS are THE funk band to follow ! Winners of the Shure Call for Legends-Live band contest, they had the opportunity to perform this summer at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.
In their near twenties, we saw them open up shows for Fred Wesley, Maceo Parker and even the Wu Tang Clan during music festivals and concert halls and blew up the stage each and every time.
Their show is a huge festive mass placed under the saint patron: The Groove. Awaking subtle jazz melodies, funk of the 70', with a small touch of hip-hop and neo-soul, they appear on stage and deliver like wild fire, their intent - to get the crowd to dance and go crazy to the rhythm.
With James Brown, Jamiroquai, The Roots and even A Tribe Called Quest cited as some of their music influences, The Lehmanns Brothers dig and deliver their groove hip-funk-hop with an incredible maturity. Definitely one for the dancefloor memory bank and future joint pain.

Then on level 2 - Funks gonna hit the fan, as rare 45" vinyl junkies, The Legendary SNOWBOY + Mighty BEN GIBSON drop more of the platters that absolutely still matter and wait for the sweat to fall. The finest selections in groove and downright nastiest in Funk, served up and delivered hard and direct to the dancefloor. ALL NIGHT LONG.
Level 3 - Time to enter The REACH UP DISCO WONDERLAND. Legendary DJ ANDY SMITH + NICK HALKES & CRISSY KYBOSH dropping 80’s boogie, soul, funk, disco and proto house, evoking the spirit and dipping into the soundtrack of legendary NYC clubs such as 'Paradise Garage’ & 'Studio 54’. A night highlighting the sounds that emerged as the 70’s, turned into the 80’s and the DNA of club music as we know it today was being written.
The South London Soul Train 4 Floor Line up completed in the Rye Wax basement - THE HAWAIIAN BOP TRIP. Your retrolicious host RICHIO SUZUKI joined by Acid Jazz Records legend EDDIE PILLER and tasty 45 slinger OSCAR ROMP take you on an epic strictly retrolicious Rock & Roll, 50's R N' B, 60's Soul & Motown, Vintage Ska & Latin journey from the love side. Aloha baby!
The South London Soul Train - All floors taking all passengers on a Non-Stop Magical Mystery Tour through all things Too Damn Funky. P-Funk to Jazz Funk, Soul Jazz to Rare Groove N’ Stax, Brass, Breaks, Bop and Hop to Motown, Club Classics and Anthems.
However - Passengers are requested to check their Souls at the Station as this ones for good time party people only! No Bass Wobbles Here, Only Love, Funk and Souuuuuuuul.
