Saved with Trentemoller, Nic Fanciulli, Kevin Saunderson & Inner City

  • Nic Fanciulli's showcase returns to matter with another showcase of dance music pioneers on Saturday September 12th… Headlining this time around will be Trentemoller who'll be making his third appearance of 2009, having previously packed out the venue with his DJ performances in March and June. This year has seen Anders Trentemoller make an impact as a DJ of note, building on his already stellar reputation as a producer and live artist. His first DJ mix compilation Harbour Boat Trips 01: Copenhagen was released in June, showcasing his influential style with a blissful drift through acoustic-led electronica and the dubbier reaches of his own production work. His Poker Flat album The Last Resort still stands as one of the decade's most important electronic records, with the accompanying Trentemoller live show being widely regarded as one of the best around. A matter favourite, his DJ sets are always a special occasion. It wouldn't be a Saved session without an appearance by a genuine legend of electronic music, and so it is that Kevin Saunderson will be on hand to make his matter debut. One of the original Detroit innovators, Saunderson started shaping the future of electronic music in the mid-80s, alongside Juan Atkins and Derrick May as one of the originators of the Detroit techno sound. With a far-ranging influence on everything that's comes since, there's not a techno producer around who isn't in some way indebted to Saunderson. His new album History Elevate, a joint release by Saunderson's KMS Records and fabric recordings, stands as testament to this, with the first CD bringing together the diverse array of acts he's remixed, from Pet Shops Boys, Cameo and Cerrone to Hercules & Love Affair, The Presets and Simian Mobile Disco. Disc 2 sees some of his best-known disciples rework Saunderson's biggest tracks, with Luciano, Claude Vonstroke, Carl Craig, Jesse Rose and Joris Voorn all on hand to turn in remixes. With Saunderson joining Trentemoller and Nic Fanciulli in Room 1 for a DJ set, he'll also be appearing in Room 2 on the night for a live Inner City performance. One of the biggest and most beloved dance acts of all time, Inner City had worldwide smashes with Big Fun and Good Life, twelve UK Top 40 hits in total, two top ten albums and combined worldwide sales topping 6 million. Saunderson and vocalist Paris Grey made a return to the live stage with their Eastern Electrics warehouse party in July to celebrate History Elevate's launch, and now come to matter to perform once more in the capital and share the Good Love. Also featuring on the bill will be matter resident Paul Woolford - as busy as ever, this season's Ibiza residency has been one of his best yet, while his production work is as prolific as ever, with a string of releases on his Intimacy label, and production and remix work in high demand. They'll be joined by Spanish duo Uner & Coyu - who've been making a splash recently with some incessantly funky house grooves released on Systematic records - and Mark Fanciulli, who'll be illustrating that DJing talent is in the blood.
