On 27th July, Pickle resident Josey Rebelle steps over to Oval Space to curate a one-off special with some of house and techno’s hardest-hitting talent.
A true pioneer, we welcome none other than A Guy Called Gerald to play a famed acid house set. Shifting between breaks to wobbles, Gerald Simpson has been at the forefront of dance music since 1980s, mastering his craft as part of 808 State during the Hacienda days and later taking charge of some of the most memorable jungle classics.
Alongside a set from Josey herself, Gerald will be joined by Actress, a master of deeply emotive electronic music. Arriving off the back of his stunning new album Lageos, a collaboration with London Contemporary Orchestra, Actress embodies the spirit of defiant experimentalism.
Also on the bill is forward-thinking French born, Berlin based rRoxymore, who’s been at the forefront of trippy modern techno for a number of years, with releases on the likes of Cómeme and Nachtdigital. And finally, we have rising talent Danielle, familiar to those who frequent Phonica or listen to her monthly on NTS, to warm the floor. Hosting Josey’s event and bringing the hype as always is of course MC Judah on the mic.
