ARCHETYPE [LIVE] (21/22 CORPORATION/ELE_MENTAL/HELIC.AL, NYC/COLUMBUS) - The rhythmic maven known as Archetype (aka Charles Noel, CN2, Fuzzy Logic, etc...) has made a startlingly unique imprint on the landscape of midwestern electronic music and beyond since he first began releasing music in the mid 90s. Through the ele_mental collective he helped found with Titonton Duvante, Todd Sines, Ed Luna + many others, they helped push a forward thinking vision for what parties in Columbus and the midwest could be like, featuring a diverse array of audio/visual stimuli and musical acts to help combat the boredom and dearth of underground culture in Ohio. Similar to ele_mental's commitment to forward thinking and diverse arts, Charles' own musical imprint the 21/22 Corporation was found in 1992 to give a release platform for music surrounding the unique mixtured of sounds coming from their crew in Ohio and beyond. Many of it's releases have since become coveted classics of midwest techno as time has gone on, still sounding like a fresh and present melding of UK and American sounds, but always with an ear towards the future. Primarily under the Archetype moniker, Charles has fortified his unique sonic blend of broken beat and oddball techno sounds on other seminal midwestern labels Black Nation and Sonic Mind, as well as releases on Moto Music, Indigo Area, and Bright Sounds under other aliases, and even racking up production credits on Cleveland resident Replife's 2008 album "The Unclosed Mind". His expansive sound palette has touched the hearts and DJ crates of everyone within and surrounding the In Training crew, connecting the dots from the sounds of early jungl/dubstep/UK techno, West London rhythmic music, loop driven midwest techno, and industrial into a sound that speaks to every facet of the sonic joy we have all been attempting to cultivate in Cleveland in the past 4 years. Charles will be joining us for an hour long live set under his Archetype moniker this month for a fluid and percussive musical showcase of what has come of midwestern electronic music in the past, and what is still left to be shaped for the future.

ADAB أدب [DJ] (HEAVEN IS IN YOU/IN TRAINING, CLEVELAND) - As half of Cleveland party Heaven is in You, adab puts heavy emphasis on translating the unifying elements between us through djing. Characterized often by their palette of sounds, they made a niche for themselves in Cleveland, Ohio spinning a variety of sounds and venues alike. Having started djing dance music, primarily, as a result of finding Cleveland's techno party In Training and being a non binary black youth raised across a few states in the Rustbelt (IL/MICH/OH), adab seeks to unabashedly open up new perspectives and dialogues for both themselves and others. They will be closing the night out for this special In Training, hot off of other gigs at Sublimate: adab, Bergsonist (live), & Club Moment in NYC, The JUMP OFF! Kickoff Party for Columbus Community Pride in Columbus, and AMP NEO - Amplifying Black, Indigenous, And POC Voices June Juke Joint! event. Their "Ancestor Syndrome" mix for Honey Soundsystem was also recently included in Pitchfork's "Top Ten DJ Mixes of March 2018".Join them in closing out the night with an enthralling and percussive array of sounds within the night's continuum of Kiernan Laveaux and Archetype.

KIERNAN LAVEAUX [DJ] (IN TRAINING, CLEVELAND) - Opening the night up with an array of strange and rhythmic electronic explorations influenced strongly by adab and Archetype themselves, Kiernan Laveaux will be reprising her role as opener for the night for the first time since January. Seeking only to transmute love and rhythmic energy to her friends and fellow transgender dancers, she will be doing her best to honor the friendship and musical comradery she's found with the other two performers on the night, and so many others throughout the lifespan of In Training.
