Industrial occult and concrète catalogue forming remastered testpressings
Demdike Stare is a collaboration between Sean Canty and Miles Whittaker, two childhood friends from the North of England with voracious appetites for record collecting and strange music-making. The pair re-appropriate sounds, which they have spent a lifetime cataloguing, into weird and immersive music of their own.
Their techno and concrète approach has lead to an exploratory discography. From the doomy drones of their occult-infused ‘horror sound’ heritage, to the brutal terrain of their ‘Testpressing’ 12” series, to the more recent move to playfully noisy club sounds with ‘Wonderland’, their archival approach amalgamates fraying breaks, weird rhythmic textures and searing noise, all deployed in a listener-dazing sonic symbiosis.
Playing alongside Demdike Stare at Howler will be – Ava; a project in expiration and autoimmunity, the kinetic narcotics of Kane Ikin’s sonorous vortexes and the Hi-res, bare bones hardware techno of Nina Buchanan.
