Egyptian Lover (Manchester Debut)

  • Micron, Lost in Music and More Bounce are joining forces this August Bank Holiday to bring the Manchester debut for one of electro’s true pioneers... Egyptian Lover. Taking place on Sunday 26 August 2018, from 11pm to 4am at Joshua Brooks, 106 Princess Street, Manchester, M1 6NG. The three clubbing brands are proud to bring a true pioneer of electro to the rainy city for his long overdue debut show. *** £5 early bird tickets are only on offer until Saturday 28 July *** Egyptian Lover has been at the forefront of the Electro scene since 1978 when he first started DJing. Getting influence from the likes of Kraftwerk and fully utilising his Roland TR-808, of which he is now synonymous with, and which is a staple piece of equipment in his DJ sets. An established producer and artist in his own right, Egyptian Lover has a huge back catalogue of music which has included such albums as On the Nile, King of Ecstasy, Back from the Tomb and 2015’s 1984. His music has influenced DJs and producers from across the electronic music spectrum, most notably of course Andrew Weatherall, who featured two Egyptian Lover tracks, ‘I Need a Freak’ and ‘Freak-a-holic’ on his 2004 Fabric 19 mix CD. This mix brought the Egyptian Lover into the lives of a whole new generation of clubbers, DJs and producers. He has toured the globe with his unique TR-808 heavy sound, from festivals including Primavera and Dekmantel to clubbing behemoths like Fabric, but this will be his very first show in Manchester. Support comes from Lost in Music, Micron, More Bounce DJs, Curtis Randles and more TBA.
