Fondazione Prada presents in its headquarters in Milan, Friday, September 28th from 7 pm to midnight, the third event of the musical project "I WANT TO LIKE YOU BUT I FIND IT DIFFICULT", curated by Craig Richards.
On September 28, the line-up includes the techno-based Monolake Live Surround artist from Berlin, the German multi-instrumentalist Burnt Friedman , the British electronic musician Joy Orbison and the Mexican artist and DJ Baby Vulture . Craig Richards participates as a DJ at the event.
Conceived as a series of three events, the project was anticipated on April 19, 2018 by a special event which was attended by Ricardo Villalobos and Richards and by a second appointment on June 8, which took part Mulatu Astatke, Midori Takada, E / Tape, Nicolas Lutz and Richards.
With this new activity, Fondazione Prada expands its field of action even further, including research and musical experimentation within its cultural offer and thus creating unprecedented resonances between disciplines. "I WANT TO LIKE YOU BUT I FIND IT DIFFICULT" represents an attempt to explore a plurality of genres and languages, from electronic music to ethio-jazz, hosting both established and emerging international artists.
Starting from a personal vision, developed by the British artist Craig Richards , the constellation of performers selected for the two line-ups intends to bring different audiences to the vocation of the Prada Foundation, showing that culture is as engaging and attractive as it is useful and necessary.
As Craig Richards states , "the idea on which my curatorial project is based is that this language can be stimulating, provocative and even uncomfortable. As a collector and passionate about music, this concept has always fascinated me. My role as curator is to present my findings in this field, both past and current, in a sequence that brings inspiration, fun, mystery and a potential disturbance. The friction between the different proposals makes this vision possible. My main objective is to recognize a common thread that runs through music and in some way unifies it. I support the idea that 'appreciating' music is not always easy, but that trying to get to know it in depth can generate great pleasure ".
DJ sets and live performances take place in different locations within the Prada Foundation's Milan office. The public is invited to move freely in external environments, experimenting with new ways to interact with architecture and thus expanding the potential of spaces.
