A celebration of Afrobeats, Afro-pop and the musical pulse of the diaspora.
From Afrobeats in the west to kuduro and gqom in the south, the explosion of African dance music has made the world take note, spawning sub-genres in the diaspora (UK Afrobeats, Afrotrap) and influencing some of the world’s biggest pop stars. To celebrate the exponential rise of the sound, Red Bull Music Festival presents An Afro-Rhythmic Affair at Festsaal Kreuzberg, featuring some of the continent and the diaspora’s biggest stars including Nigerian-British Afrobeats artist, Maleek Berry, who in recent years has emerged at the forefront of the genre as a producer and vocalist, Congolese singer BM, who seamlessly weaves together soukous and Afropop, British-Ghanaian rapper and singer Eugy, Angolan Kuduro star Titica, German-Nigerian rapper Megaloh, UK Afrobeats duo Kwamz and Flava, Berlin Afrobeats and Afrohouse DJ collective Freak de l’Afrique (DJ Nomi, Mista Wallizz, Rina V, DJ Chadna, Young Gambinos, KidPre), cutting-edge audio-visual group deadHype, and Nairobi’s genre-defying producer and Academy participant Sichangi.
