Explore the inner workings of the Red Bull Music Academy at the historic Funkhaus.
In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Red Bull Music Academy, we’re opening up our doors for a special day of hands-on workshops, panels, tours and music. Step inside the Academy and explore the history and creative energy of Funkhaus, the former GDR radio broadcasting center and one of the largest recording studios in the world. The evening will include a lecture and workshop on a new instrument, the Granular Convolver, with RBMA’s own Tatsuya Takahashi, Maximilian Rest of E-RM and Christoph Hohnerlein; a public conversation between gallerist and curator of Academy artwork Johann König with the artist and MC Haiyti; a lecture with production collective KitschKrieg; a Studio Science on all things analog with Marco Passarani, Steffi, Benjamin Damage and special guests from our studio team; an exploration of esoteric rhythm led by Matias Aguayo and much, much more. A non-stop event, the early evening activities will transition into DJ sets from Academy-approved selectors and live performances including the collaborative duo of Tony Allen and Jeff Mills in Saal 1.
