[Bread and Butter London] -------------------------------------------------------------- Steve O'Sullivan - Mosaic Records//Sushitech Records UK based producer releasing on Sushitech and on his own labels Mosaic and Bluespirit. Regarding Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus (aka Maurizio) as his main influence, Steve produces slowly evolving, very minimal, soulful club tracks on his labels Bluetrain and Green, showing his love for subtle sounds and dub effects. He also ran the Bluespirit abel, on which he collaborated with Ben Sims, Lee Grainge and Russ Gabriel. The legendary Bluespirit series comprised four 12" singles and sounded housier than Steve's ultradeep minimal dub techno on his more recent outings (such as Bluetrain #04, 'Echo Freaks'). Steve is the owner of the Mosaic label, which offers a sound between house and techno and features, apart from his own productions as The Wise Caucasian and Ephebe, releases from Paul Mac, Aubrey, Downlink, Mark Broom and Mark Ambrose, to name just a few. On Pure Plastic, Steve produced a 12" together with Lee Grainge as 'Original Vintage'. Oshanaa [yoyaku // Partisan] Rising from humble beginnings in NYC, Berlin based Oshana has established an unparalleled identity in today’s underground scene. Earning recognition from her productions, she’s harnessed an innate ability to captivate her audience with the transcendental quality of her music. Drawing inspiration from the raw sound of late 90s house and techno, she’s composed a style that’s both fresh and mature, distinguished by its rugged percussion and warm, melodic synths. Since her debut in 2012, Oshana has stacked up a number of superior accolades. She was named one of the underground’s top 10 leading ladies by Pulse Radio, she earned a coveted position on Raresh’s Fabric 78 compilation, and she garnished the support of several key players for her numerous chart-topping EP’s. As well as signing her music to BodyParts and Rue De Plaisance, Oshana’s developed a close association to Dana Ruh and Anthea’s Brouqade label, also following the latter to become an integral part of the exciting, new Partisan imprint. This connection has proven to be significant for Oshana – holding down summer residencies for Brouqade & Friends at the infamous Club Der Visionaere in Berlin, while also keeping an active touring schedule - boasting dates around the world at Fuse Club in Belgium, Rex Club in Paris, Goa in Rome, Output in NYC, and festivals like Sonar in Barcelona and Epizode in Vietnam. No matter where her path leads her, Oshana’s intentions remain focused on capturing the minds and hearts of her listeners. While her DJ sets play on inspiration from the crowd, Oshana’s LIVE shows are a strong force of their own, making them a natural fit for big rooms and large-scale festivals. Regardless of the setting, it is evident that energy is the primary factor permeating all aspects of Oshana’s creativity. In her particular approach, there is ample space for introspection and meditation, but never at the expense of the overall vibe of the dancefloor. Junki Inoue [Toi Toi Musik] Born in Tokyo in 1989, Junki Inoue is one of the youngest of the new crop of ‘digger’ DJs, who are gradually making their names through sharing their personal interpretations of the history of electronic dance music. A dedicated collector of vinyl for many years, Junki is comfortable playing sets at any time of the night and in any location: warm up, peak, closing, after-hours; warehouse or open air. Inoue’s sound stands out for its natural combination of Japanese and European traditions: precise, spare and elegant but warm and welcoming; deep and hypnotic for the mind, but always with energy and drive for the body. Inoue caught the music bug young and was a keen collector and DJ of various styles of rock as a teenager. However, his induction to underground electronic music came at scene-legends (and now Berlin ex-pats) Yuki Masda and Yone-Ko’s Cabaret nights at Unit, Tokyo. There he was introduced to some of the genuine masters of stylish, understated and elegant techno and house DJing: Fumiya Tanaka, Daniel Bell, Jan Krueger and Zip. All remain key influences to this day. Inspired by this approach, at the age of 20 Inoue established his own party, Heike at Tokyo clubbing institution Womb. A desire to fully experience different cultures brought Junki to London in 2012. There, Inoue met the Toi Toi Musik crew, with whom a mutual understanding and respect was rapidly developed. He has been resident DJ at the party for the past two years. London has proven itself to be Inoue's spiritual and cultural home, with the city providing more freedom to express himself as an individual than can easily be found at home in Japan. Rave came alive to Junki in London, where he witnessed a new wave of artists and DJing forming firsthand: DJs like Nicolas Lutz, Andrew James Gustav and Gwenan showed that the elegant grooves that had caught Inoue’s attention back in Tokyo could be created from a broader musical palette, with fewer formal rules. Junki is now well on his way to establishing his name alongside his inspirations, with regular gigs alongside these DJs. The past year has seen him play sets in major cities and at major clubs across the world: CONCRETE in Paris, Phonoteque in Montevideo (where he was selected to open the 2017 season), regular spots in Zurich, gigs throughout Italy (Milan, Venice, Rome). Much more is sure to lie ahead for this positive and unassuming talent.
