From here at Crown Ruler HQ we’re over the moon to announce this corker of a birthday party, celebrating 20 years of Sound Signature records & 18 years of Crown Ruler tours. In the sweet spot of spring on Sunday 23rd of September 2018, 2 of our favourites, Detroit dons Theo Parrish and Marcellus Pittman, are joining us to throw down for a day & night park party on the Footscray Community Arts Centre lawn.
As you heads are probably aware, Sound Signature is a household name far and wide for dance music fans of an extensive demographic. The label’s 1998-born iconic cursive stamp marks Theo Parrish’s legendary catalogue of techno, deep house, broken-beat, disco edits and spiritual jazz (to scratch the surface), and has continued to pioneer as a source of black music exploration with utmost sincerity. From Sound Sculptures to Ugly Edits, the melodic corners of the Rotating Assembly & the eminent all-star 3 Chairs, Sound Signature is home to Theo’s impressive collection of original productions & collaborations, along with an unwavering determination to tell the stories of Detroit with releases from his brother in creation Marcellus Pittman, Omar S, Alton Miller, Jay Daniel, Byron The Aquarius & many more.
In their own rights, Theo & Marcellus have spun to Antipodean audiences at a bunch of our parties and others nationwide, but seeing as us crew at Crown Ruler are all about first times, we figure this b2b combo is the perfect way to light the candles on another year of touring artists that we love
Representing home turf at it’s best are 3 of our family’s golden girls – the one and only DJ JNETT, west coast queen Rok Riley and deep-house encyclopaedia Imax b2b her boy Staz – and because everyone’s a headliner in our eyes, we won’t be publishing set times and encourage you to enjoy every tune to the sweet backdrop of the west!
