Theo's label mate and fellow Detroit native makes his way to Perth for the very first time! When other children were playing combat with G.I. Joe action figures in the early 80’s, Detroit native Marcellus “Malik” Pittman was playing his radio at maximum volume, listening to the sounds of “the Wizzard” and the “Electrifying Mojo”, in addition to the jazz outputs of Rosetta Hines. Shortly thereafter, he released “Essential Selections, Vol. 1” on the Sound Signature label, headed by Theo Parrish. In 1998, Malik forged a working relationship with Rick Wilhite, Theo Parrish and Kenny “Moodymann” Dixon, collectively known as the 3 Chairs. As production artists and selectors, they have helped to define an integral part of the Detroit sound.

Hashman Deejay – a long time staple of Canadian dance label Mood Hut, the monster re-mixer and deep-selector, the many names and faces… Born on idyllic Vancouver Island, British Columbia and now living along the mainland West Coast, Hashman has been producing and deejaying in North America under his own name and as part of different musical outfits for some time now, not to mention being a constant contributor to the regional music community, encouraging, engineering sessions, and remixing artists from the area – said to be affiliated with experimental groups like Aquarian Foundation and Kinetic Electronix – Recent excursions include last year’s chart-topper “On the Inner Plains” as part of the group Ttam Renat, collaborations with London-based Going Good, new releases on Future Times, and the usual steady stream of appearances on Mood Hut – his productions vary in aesthetic but all inhabit the same dream-world with an obtuse yet ecstatic approach to late-night dancefloor music, emphasizing a richly dynamic rhythmic sensibility. DJing style ranges notoriously far and wide.
