- An evening with Jenn Nkiru & Touching Bass. Jenn Nkiru is one of the most pioneering artists and directors of this generation and has already contributed with some incredible films including the acclaimed ‘Rebirth is Necessary’, VMA Award winning ‘APES**T’ by The Carters, ‘Space Travelers Lullaby’ by Kamasi Washington and ‘Kong’ by Neneh Cherry. There will be a screening of some of her films as well as a Q&A about her process and journey so far. Alex Rita and Andwot are the leading lights behind Touching Bass: a movement of London-based soul disciples who hold down a biweekly NTS Radio residency, a discussion series called Speaking In Sound and a monthly dance (communicated via texting service) among other creative endeavours. With roots firmly anchored in the Afro-Caribbean experience and heavily influenced by the openness of musical institutions like Plastic People, the TB Dance has become a playground for free-flowing, musical exploration over the last three years. They will be providing one of their all-encompassing, vinyl only DJ sets on the day/night.
