Dynamic DJ / production duo Layo & Bushwacka! are showcasing the latest cuts from their highly-anticipated new artist album ‘Feels Closer’ at their brand new flagship night, Olmeto Records at The End on Saturday 4th March.
‘Feels Closer’ is the pair’s third and finest album to date. With a rich and varied soundtrack, it includes collaborations with leading lights of dance music such as Green Velvet and legendary live musicians such as Brazil’s Mino Cinelu and Rogerio Flausino. Cleverly melding lush electronic soundscapes to the disparate worlds of techno, jazz, pop and even opera, the album is a compelling production - released on their own label, Olmeto Records – and has already won praise and plaudits from a wide-ranging band of DJs, broadcasters and music critics, from Laurent Garnier to Danny Rampling.
After a decade long relationship with dance music Layo & Bushwacka! have made an impressive impact on the UK scene and with the release of ‘Feels Closer’ they look set to continue this glowing love affair. Propelled by the club anthem and top ten single ‘Love Story’, their last album ‘Night Moves’ sold over 100,000 copies - making them renowned for their crisp beats and heavyweight production techniques. They have wowed audiences from Homelands to Sonar with their live set and have an extensive DJing schedule that takes them around the globe all year long.
The launch party is the perfect opportunity for Layo & Bushwacka! to leave the confines of the studio and unleash their latest tracks on the crowd, cranking everything through The End’s killer sound system for maximum impact. “Feels Closer” should restore the faith of any non-believers that dance music is firmly back on track. As Matthew himself points out, the dance scene is invigorated once more: “It’s a delight to go record shopping at the moment ….the music hasn’t been this exciting for years.”
On the night, expect eight hours of cutting-edge sounds from Layo & Bushwacka!’s well-travelled and formidable arsenal of electronic music. Previews, snippets and re-edits of various tracks are to be showcased alongside some of the superlative current electronic sounds that have recently inspired their productions.
Meanwhile upstairs in AKA, Jimmy K-Tel and Matt Brown of Sancho Panza will be treating the crowd to their trademark carnival house mix, of heavy percussion, soulful vocals and Latino flavour.
