Rrose [Live]
Born 1969. Died 1909. After the release of three EPs and an album on the Sandwell District label in 2011 and the launch of her own Eaux imprint in 2012, productions out on Further Records, Stroboscopic Artifacts, Infrastructure New York and Khemia Records including collaborations with Bob Ostertag, Lucy, and others, Rrose has found a unique niche in the worldwide techno underground while remaining equally situated in the experimental and avant-garde artistic communities. His tracks incorporate ideas from early drone and minimalist music as prominently as they do the history of dance music. Whether as a DJ, live performer, or producer, Rrose crafts sonic ecosystems with patience and attention to detail, allowing the music to unfold gradually while tapping into deep, uncharted recesses of both the mind and body.

BLEIE [Live]
Returning to Vancouver for her sophomore performance, San Francisco based producer Sarah Bly melted minds when she performed here in 2016. BLEIE performs hardware-based experimental electronic music ranging from mercurial noisescapes to more cerebral and singular techno. Most budding artists seem pressured to conform or mimic the already established, only to be heard. BLEIE indeed works with the mortar of techno form, but uses different bricks altogether. It's a hard sound to articulate; at first, it's almost alienating to ears worn by years in dark clubs. Its mercurial, yet still surprisingly club compatible nature makes it an aural tiger balm - it burns and soothes at once. This compositional depth is perhaps a result of BLEIE's background as a trained pianist and violinist, by which she transmutes the commonly associated tropes of the genre. BLEIE lets the elements rule over the form, giving the tracks a morphing and unpredictable feel. BLEIE has released on 3AM Devices and Unheard Records, with her most recent vinyl release entitled, Certainty is Only a Feeling, on Swedish label, B-O-D-I-E-S.

KAFKA [Live]
Vancouver’s KAFKA requires no introduction. He has been writing and producing under various aliases since the early 1990’s, with KAFKA taking shape in 2013. Since then he has released on Berlin’s acclaimed Reclaim Your City Label, Rome’s Concrete Records, Vancouver’s own SubSpec Records, as well as his own label, Body Politic Recordings, and has become a key player in Vancouver’s underground techno community. Both his live and DJ sets are focused on the larger conceptual journey, often slow to draw you in, offering listeners an expansive soundtrack that explore the darker depths of techno and other experimental electronic music. He produces underground techno events (such as this one) under the banner, Ghost in the Machine.

LVT [DJ]
LVT is a pillar of Vancouver's underground techno community. She has been making her mark on the dance floors of Pacific Northwest underground rave spaces for the past 5 years, throwing the legendary Bound By Sound parties among many many others. She also collaborates with other promoters and with frequent opportunity to experiment in a live setting has honed in on her own eclectic DJ style. A collector of many genres, her DJ style is diverse including Ambient, Electro, House, Breaks and Bassy hybrids - but in the darker and atmospheric shades of Techno is where her eagerness for music really shines. Having played alongside the likes of Orphx, ASC, Edit Select, Blind Observatory, Headless Horseman and more, she's got what it takes to keep you on the dancefloor.
