Yes...you read that correctly. Get ready for what's potentially New York's first floppy-disc techno party - at least that we know of. But let's back up...
For our next gathering at Rose Gold we're presenting a Serbian-born, German institution who for nearly two decades has quite literally put the "tech" in techno, pushing the limits of not only what the genre sounds like, but how you hear it.
Beyond rocking iconic clubs like Berghain and Tresor, whose label dropped some of his late 2000s records like "Crackin Skulls," Remute's been responsible for a variety of techno anthems like "Gravity?" and his minimal classic "Zuendli," along with a hundreds-plus discography.
He's released music on video games, interactive iphone apps, and most recently has focused his talents on a piece of forgotten technology that while small, packs a mighty punch: the floppy disc.
For years Remute been releasing his latest work on floppy, usually via his own self-titled label. He also DJs these sounds on this format at clubs around the world utilizing old-school Amiga computers and a mixer. Raw 8bit techno, acid, electro, hi-fi disco, all in 3,5 megabytes...all on floppy.
Providing an intensifying framework to the night will be rising techno star and Dusk & Haze label head: DJ and producer Sophia Saze. She's released some amazing records on Ghostly International, Get Physical, and gigged all over the world. We're very excited for her Goonroom debut.
So gear up for Remute playing nothing but floppy discs in Brooklyn for a night that will melt your brain...in a good way. We can't wait :)
