Promoter and record label of A Coruña Fanzine commemorates its Tenth Anniversary with the celebration of Fanzine Fest 2018, an event in which continues betting on the synergy between image and sound, creating now a multidisciplinary experience along 3 days in order to involve a broader audience, reaching in the same way older and children with culturally attractive activities and rich in various sensitive orientations.
This year in addition to selecting with great care artists with a great career and special skills for arts, there will be an apportunity to enjoy with workshops, lectures, band performances and dj sets , as well as other activities with which to bring closer to the general public the musical and visual culture that surrounds the avant-garde electronic scene.
For 3 days the events will take place in different spaces around the city of A Coruña, the Fanzine headquarters, in addition to the usual Sala O Túnel (located within the multi-purpose center Coliseum), there will be add other spaces such as the Teatro Colón (located on Avenida Marina) and the Luís Seoane Foundation located in the historic center of the herculine city.
Among the cast of artists participating this year in the celebration of Fanzine Fest 2018, we find several essential names to understand the evolution of avant-garde music in recent years, as the veteran British producer Carl Finlow (aka Silicon Scally, Random Factor or Voice Stealer) known for his electro productions published on labels such as Warp, Klang, Novamute or 2020 Vision among others; the german Olaf Bender better known as Byetone, pioneer of the most foggy electronic music and one of the co-founders of the legendary Raster-Noton label; Arpanet the solo project of the american artist Heinrich Mueller, renowned techno and electro producer of Detroit and one of the names behind projects like Drexciya, Dopplereffekt, NRSB-11 and Der Zyklus; the singer, writer and London pianist Douglas Dare, always associated with the more intimate and organic side of the famous label Erased Tapes; the veteran Dutch artist Ferenc E. van der Sluijs aka I-F, undoubtedly one of the most important names in the European electro scene of the last 2 decades; or the veteran Catalan producer Pedro Pina under his Pina project with which he always approaches territories loaded with techno, IDM, glitch or ambient.
Next to them stand out emerging artists such as the swiss Adolpho & Franky, young techno DNA duo; the french newcomer Hortense Cmll aka Hydrangea offering large doses of hypnotic techno; the robotics musician and engineer Moritz Simon Geist, also known as Sonic Robots and one of the most fascinating creators of the new german DIY scene; the british "acid lover" Joshua Doherty under his moniker Posthuman; the Coruña born Alex Silva presents his new project in band format: electronic mood and punk energy; the musician and designer of electronic musical instruments Mateo Mena accompanied by the draftsman, scenographer and
illuminator Montse Piñeiro in the search of new sound paths; the Galician band Musculo! integrated by Álvaro Blanco, Raúl Santiago, Javier Buela and Nicolás Nieto presenting their latest album; or the visual artist Juanjo Fernández Rivero with his Gnomalab project.
The line up is completed by several local artists led by the veteran Coruña djs Grobas and Fat Fish; the producer from Vigo, José Garnelo, with his Pálida project; also the Coruña born but settled in Lugo Gema Albo alias Elektrógena; the Ourense Dial house collective formed by You_el, Mou and Psychodandy; the veteran resident dj of Fanzine The Panic Room and the great visual artist from A Coruña, Vj The End.
