Two years is a long time in showbiz baby and we have a hankering to spill some pints, sink some gins and celebrate in fine fashion. To do so we’ve brought along some of our nearest and dearest to help us cut the cake for two glorious years of Figaro’ing.
Our headline homie is Christopher Port. Garage inspired productions split between d-floor melters and tear-jerking dreamers, its music with the capacity to make you both dance and cry. Having just released the second part of his two-part EP operation, Everything in Quotes “LIGHT” / “DARK” Porty is full of ammunition and will bring his full live set to our birthday. We can’t bloody wait to unwrap it.
Maxwell S is very much a part of the furniture at the Gaso. One of the dudes behind the decks for Daydreams, Max is well-versed in setting dance floors at his local alight. His unpredictable are part of the reason the Daydreams parties are widely loved in Melbourne. We know what we like, and this we like.
Colette is one our long-time conspirator’s and, as we all know, the key to a good birthday is surrounding yourselves with your fellow partners in crime. Probably the nicest DJ on the circuit, she’s also one of our favourite selectors. We’ve given up on making predictions, only a big smile and a mixed bag.
A country boy with a heart of gold Barry Sunset (Sunset Sounds) is a box office selector from B-Rat. The wildcard birthday party attendee who when they get their hands on the AUX things get a bit silly, with a full mixing kit things will get downright outrageous.
Birthday parties are also for our friends. In Asha and Louise Kaye (stage name pending, the reward of a free pint for finding her a name is still very much open) we’ll have two pal’s dropping heat together. With a poster slot at City Loop for Asha and gigs popping up all around the city for Louise, these two make the perfect mixture to kick things off for our second birthday.
It wouldn’t be a birthday bash without our House of Friends comrades. Bona fide purveyors of a good time the HoF boys are both literally and figuratively our big brothers. Three hot selectors we simply could not do without on our special night.
Your Figaro hosts will be butchering the 1’s and 2’s while we blow out the candles on our second b’day as we live by our maxim of ‘great tunes played poorly’.
