  • Free Love is the latest manifestation of Scottish duo Suzanne Rodden and Lewis Cook (FKA Happy Meals) - a continuation and progression of their utopian dance pop experiments released on Night School Records and Optimo which have seen them nominated for Scottish Album of the Year and performing across the globe. Touring across Europe supporting Liars and The Flaming Lips, and with festival shows as far as Austin, Moscow and Bangalore, the band have become notorious for their sensual live ceremonies. Using a table of all-hardware electronics, Free Love harness a charismatic chaos and unpredictable energy that sets them apart as one of the most exciting artists of 2018. Brimming with exploratory wonder, “Synchronicity” is a cerebral pop song about breaking from the binds of culturally dictated self-limitation coupled with the vertigo of freedom, in the analog, post-punk and sultry synth-pop vein of Stereolab and Marie Davidson. Having just performed at London’s Test Pressing festival and Manchester’s Sounds From The Other City, the band are set to bring their distinct sound to Brighton’s Great Escape festival this weekend, with additional performances at Gottwood, Lovebox, Bestival and more across the summer. Using a table of all-hardware electronics, Free Love harness a charismatic chaos and unpredictable energy that sets them apart as one of the most exciting live acts of 2018. Since forming in 2014 at Glasgow’s legendary musical hub The Green Door Studio (the birthplace of other acclaimed DIY acts like Golden Teacher, Total Leatherette and more), the duo have been nominated for Scottish Album of the Year for their 2015 LP ‘Apèro’, toured across Europe in support of Liars and With a trippy-eyed clarity and confidence that only bodes well for the future, Free Love will continue their musical evolution throughout 2018 “Their vision is a utopian one, influenced by rave culture, Eastern religions, politics and magic.” - The Quietus “...a stunning piece of electronic pop that fuses wistful, down-cast vocals to Acid drenched production.” - CLASH “Glasgow’s electro duo Happy Meals are now called Free Love, but they’re still pushing the same funky vibes as before, all goofy synth and elastic basslines.” - NME Magazine “...no-one can outdo the euphoric Euro-disco vibes of Free Love…” - The Skinny Autumns is the solo project of Christian Donaghey, from Derry, Northern Ireland, an outlet for electronic post-punk with a lethal pulse. After a brace of rough demos and without preliminary hype the project emerged fully formed on Karl O’Connor’s (aka Regis) illustrious label Downwards back in 2014, the youngest act in a new vanguard of artists that included the likes of Tropic of Cancer, DVA Damas and Marshstepper. Preceding releases for Clan Destine Records and Downwards have seen the project engaged in a rough trade of transgressive noise, dysfunctional metal dance and DIY punk angst, yet each of these milestones has represented a different proposition. 2016’s ‘A Product of 30 Years of Violence’ saw the project moving into vast glacial spaces after the propulsive industrial discord of 2015’s ‘Das Nichts’ whilst both releases displayed a marked sense of transition from the lurid and engulfed fidelities of the ‘Terrible Tuesday’ Downwards Mini LP the previous year. Alongside progressive appearances on cult labels the project has developed a notorious live show on the back of support slots for The KVB and a US tour which saw Donaghey share a bill with Lust For Youth in San Francisco. The performance of a desolate live score to David Lynch’s ‘Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me’ at the Distorted Perspectives festival, an acclaimed collaboration with renowned techno experimentalist Samuel Kerridge at the 2016 edition of Paris Fashion Week and a string of UK & European dates throughout 2017, performing alongside the likes of Beak>, Silent Servant & DVA Damas, have further cemented a reputation for uncompromising spectacle. Following an expansive contribution to the Downwards label compilation ‘The Immortal Eye’ in March of 2017, Autumns added to an already restless year with his remix of JT Whitfield’s ‘Reclusion Talks’. 2018 shows Donaghey’s ouput retaining traction, releasing both original works and remixes, with a debut EP on Berlin’s, AMOK Tapes, a remix of Unhuman on Strange Therapy Records, as well as a return to Carl Clan Destine’s imprint and a number of live touring dates throughout the year.
