• Following a successful away fixture at London’s Cafe Oto, Glasgow’s “eroded electronics” label Broken20 returns home, taking over two floors of The Old Hairdressers with a night of live drone, mixed beats and vice versa. TVO AND PRODUCTION UNIT PRESENT: ROSE & SANDY (LIVE A/V) Having previously enchanted with ultra-processed zither, the Broken20 label heads introduce their new setup: live-mangled autoharp, caressed and debauched into a burbling, dreamy mess, but with a new underbelly of taut machine rhythms. SPATIAL (LIVE A/V) While known to flex his dancefloor chops via his Infrasonics imprint, Spatial’s ‘Primitives’ release for Broken20 was a step change – a self-coded ‘opti-sonic’ installation/exploration of the relationship between sound and colour. JAMES SANDFORD (LIVE) A brand new project from Glasgow hero Dave Clark (Sparky, Optimo Espacio), with a sprawling album of post-rock and febrile drone on the very near horizon for Broken20. Expect guitars and viola, densely layered and embellished beyond all recognition. DJS: RIBEKA / MOTHER MARK / MISC. The Hixxy and Sharkey of Glasgow electronics will furnish the upstairs session with all your favourite wares, while purveyors of the sublime Misc. label and all round good dood(ette)s Datassette, Tengui and Mücha take control of the bar, plying you with either Drexciya, Stockhausen, or a bit of both.
