The first event in a series of amazing talent that's shaped the face of dance and pop music over the last 30 years, we're proud to announce Roy Davis Jr. with support from Demarkus Lewis and John Walker About the artists: Roy Davis Jr: Legendary house music DJ Roy Davis Jr. grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and was turned on to house music at an early age by the likes of Lil' Louis, DJ Pierre, Farley Keith (Farley Jackmaster Funk) & Marshall Jefferson. Davis began his own production company named Phuture in the late 1980s and went on to become an A&R scout for record label Strictly Rhythm in NYC whilst also running his Chicago founded record label Undaground Therapy Muzik. A few years later Roy Davis and singer-songwriter Peven Everett wrote and produced the single "Gabriel" which was released on Large Records and later licensed and released on XL Recordings in 1996. The track garnered international airplay, and was played in nightclubs around the world. It peaked at #22 in the UK Singles Chart in November 1997.[1] The single sold over 200,000 copies, and has appeared on numerous of compilation albums including Desert Island Mix from Gilles Peterson and continues to be a pioneering record in the history of Garage & House music. In 2004, Davis' track, About Love reached #70 in the UK Singles Chart. Adding to the list of previous chart success with records such as "Who Dares To Believe In Me" under alias The Believers and "All I Do" released on Omar-S artist-run label FXHE. Roy Davis Jr., has also been known for his work for Daft Punk's label Roulè which operated out of Paris in the early 90's and also his production work for artists Eric Benet / Faith Evans, Mary J Blige, Seal, Patti LaBelle, Christina Milian and Morcheeba. Demarkus Lewis: For just under a decade Demarkus Lewis has released over 100 singles and remixes . He has kept true to his roots in the underground sound whether it be deep soulful house or the heaviest of techno/tech-house outings. Known for his ability to go deep while maintaining the energy to keep the dance floors moving, he has proven to be diverse artist. The year 2000 marks Demarkus signing his first record deal with Swerve Records. Since then, his name has appeared on several labels such as End Recordings, Slip n Slide, Low Down, Siesta Music, Large Music, Shack Recordings, Black Vinyl, Kapa Music, Nightshift Records, Brique Rouge, Robsoul, and Conya Records just to name a few. His music has also been featured on several dance music compilations including Seamless Recordings' Bargrooves series, DJ Mag's 'DJ Face Off' cd comp, Mark Farina's 'Live at Om' compilation on Om records, Slip n Slide presents Ibiza and Roger Sanchez' Release Yourself. In 2005 Demarkus launched Grin Music as his home base label. Grin began as a deep house label while now, 3 years later, it has morphed into a blend of house and techno. Alongside housing some of his own productions, Grin has featured artists such as Chicago's Gene Farris, Timmy Vegas of Soul Central and DBR aka Rhythm Slaves. As a DJ with over 18 years experience , Lewis has performed in venues like Stompy (San Francisco) Club Rayo (Argentina), Metro Bass (Rotterdam), Silo (Belgium), H20 (Belgium), The Office (Republic of Georgia), Propaganda (Moscow), Neighborhood (London) and Tresor (Berlin) to name a few. Demarkus is currently focusing on his label as well as finding time to do guest mixes on radio shows and clubs around the globe. John Walker: For well over a decade now John Walker aka "turn@round" has been a staple in the world of electronic dance music. As a DJ, this southern boy has rocked various crowds ranging from residencies around his home in Texas to crazy five-day party binges in South America. He’s rocked raves, clubs, festivals and other stages alongside a list of heavy hitters too long to mention. His sound mainly focuses on tech-house, but his diversity can include everything from the headiest minimal techno to the jazziest dubstep. As a catalyst for his local scene, over and over again he's churned out legendary weeklies and unforgettable one-offs. Producing under John Walker (also Emit Levart), his original and remixed work has hit everything from vinyl to digital, television and radio. His works can be found on Juno, Beatport, Stompy amongst others. He currently resides in the DFW area working on new material, and in his own words "I really feel like I'm just getting started.” Project A.I. Dallas is a rare gem in the wasteland of nightlife.
