The Evening
A living tribute to gay disco is popping up in the heart of Cooper-Young. Sauna is a queer party celebrating pride and the music of our community. It’s a reunion for friends near and far, new and old.
Phones discouraged, looks appreciated. 21 and up with ID.
The Sound
We have imported a hand built, birch, analog sound system that packs a punch while being exceptionally soft on the ears. This type of system is built specifically for dance music and is similar to the systems that powered famous gay clubs of the 70’s such as Paradise Garage and The Loft.
The Music
The night will be programmed with sleazy disco cuts, raw underground techno, and diva drenched house. The Sauna Dj’s will be selecting cuts from gay artists throughout underground dance music. If you want pop remixes and circuit hits you may want to stay home and listen to pandora. Our Dj’s don’t take requests. 😉
The Space
We have selected a private space in Midtown Memphis where you can feel as free as you want. The exact location will be announced the week of. Lewks encouraged. Coat check will be available for the adventurous.
The Rules
No cameras or cellphones. Lets take time to connect and enjoy one another. You can post on the thirst trap later. Sauna is intended to be a safe space to enjoy music, art and expression.
